The Juno® commercial LED downlight retrofit kits provide a practical and economical solution to upgrade existing incandescent, CFL, and HID commercial housings to LED technology. These all-in-one retrofit modules incorporate a high-quality LED light engine mounted directly to a spun aluminum trim, paired with a deeply regressed diffusing lens available in white or haze finishes. The design allows for easy installation through a quick disconnect feature in the junction box, simplifying wiring and reducing installation time. These kits deliver up to 2400 lumens while consuming only 27.5 watts, offering output comparable to a 42-watt CFL. The retrofit modules are compatible with installed 8-inch non-IC commercial recessed housings for incandescent, CFL, or HID lamps. For installations in insulated ceilings, the insulation must be pulled back at least 3 inches from the perimeter of the retrofit. The LED retrofit modules replace CFL lamps totaling 42 watts or greater, producing up to 2400 lumens at only 27.5 watts. Each module incorporates a spun aluminum reflector and a separate nonmetallic trim ring with a knife-edge design to minimize shadows. Spring steel friction clips secure the trim to the ceiling, while a conduit whip and connector allow for direct attachment to a 1/2-inch trade size knockout in the junction box, ensuring straightforward installation.
The LED light engine is replaceable and mounted directly to the aluminum trim to provide superior thermal management, ensuring long-lasting performance. LEDs are binned within a three-step MacAdam ellipse to maintain consistent color across fixtures. Available color temperatures include 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K, with a minimum of 80 or 90 CRI for accurate color rendering. The LED driver options include a dedicated 120V driver or a universal voltage driver accommodating input voltages from 120–277V AC at 50/60Hz. The 120V driver is compatible with most incandescent, magnetic low voltage, and electronic low voltage dimmers, while the universal voltage driver supports 0-10V dimming protocols.
Electrical connections are simplified with the included conduit whip and connector, allowing direct attachment to standard junction box knockouts. All necessary hardware is provided to facilitate installation after removal of fluorescent sockets and ballasts. The spun aluminum trim is finished in white or haze and paired with a deeply regressed diffusing lens that effectively conceals the LEDs from direct view, reducing glare. The kits are UL and cUL listed for use with most standard 8-inch non-IC commercial rough-in sections and are suitable for damp locations, though not intended for outdoor use.
The JCLR8L and JCLR8S retrofit trims are secured using spring steel friction clips, allowing installation in a variety of 8-inch commercial recessed open-frame rough-in sections. The trims accommodate ceiling thicknesses ranging from 1/2 inch to 1 1/8 inch. Rough-in section inside diameter compatibility is 7 13/16 inches to 8 5/16 inches for the JCLR8S and 8 5/8 inches to 9 1/8 inches for the JCLR8L, providing flexibility for a wide range of commercial ceiling applications.
