RGBW, RGBA and Tunable White LED Spotlight for Retail, Gallery, Hospitality, and Office Lighting

The CLS Jade ColourFlow and Tunable White series represents a new generation of premium track and surface-mounted luminaires, designed with exceptional attention to light quality, efficiency, and build. Manufactured entirely in the Netherlands using advanced production techniques, the Jade series offers a compelling blend of performance, craftsmanship, and value. CLS worked in close collaboration with leading lighting designers to integrate a wide range of highly desirable features into this versatile luminaire family.

The Jade ColourFlow variant stands out for its outstanding light output and remarkably homogeneous color mixing, surpassing the performance of any comparable fixture in its size class. The integration of CLS’s advanced LED modules allows for the smooth display of vibrant colors as well as an extensive spectrum of white tones. In contrast to many manufacturers who offer only RGBW options, CLS expands creative potential with the addition of RGBA configurations, ideal for achieving rich, saturated colors and subtle pastel hues.

For applications requiring precise control over white light, the Jade Tunable White versions are available in standard 1800K–4000K and 2700K–5700K ranges, with other configurations available on request based on minimum order quantities. The color mixing remains uniform and shadow-free even at close range, thanks to a patent-pending mixing dome and the strategic placement of LED chips.

The Jade series is engineered with user comfort and visual quality in mind. Each fixture includes an internal snoot that minimizes glare, a common issue with high-output spots. A standard soft diffusion filter ensures a smooth, homogeneous beam with 94% light transmission, enhancing the fixture’s visual performance. Multiple beam angles—23°, 45°, and 69°—are offered, with an optional oval beam shaper available for added flexibility.

Designed to support the creative freedom of lighting designers, the Jade offers an extensive accessory pack, including rotatable barndoors, snoots, half snoots, and honeycomb louvres, all available in black or white finishes. To reduce unwanted internal reflections, white accessories feature a matte black interior.

Installation options are equally versatile. The Jade ColourFlow is compatible with Global and Eutrac 3-phase data tracks and can also be specified with Wireless DMX or Casambi Bluetooth control for retrofit scenarios where replacing tracks is not feasible. Beyond track mounting, the Jade is available in two additional formats: the Jade B with an open threaded end for cable tray or hard ceiling installations, and the Jade C with a surface mount ceiling rose designed for use in suspended ceilings.

The Jade C ColourFlow is a particularly adaptable surface-mounted fixture suitable for environments where both functional and dynamic lighting are required. It features RGBW and RGBA LED modules as well as Tunable White options, and comes with a mounting plate compatible with a wide variety of ceiling materials. Its design supports the creation of innovative lighting concepts while maintaining a uniform, aesthetically pleasing form factor across projects.

Long-term performance is another hallmark of the Jade range. Unlike many fixtures, both the LED light source and reflector are protected from dust and dirt, ensuring consistent output and minimal maintenance over time. Unprotected reflectors can lose up to 40% of their output due to contamination, a problem the Jade avoids with its integrated diffusion system.

The Jade family offers a unified aesthetic across a broad range of applications. With its modular design, lighting professionals can specify multiple Jade models within a single project to address varying technical needs without compromising visual cohesion. The fixture is available in white, grey, or black finishes, and constructed from coated aluminum and PC/ABS V0 materials. Weighing just 780 grams, it offers a wide swivel range—340° horizontally and 350° vertically—for flexible aiming.

Technical specifications include a maximum light output of 1500 lumens, power consumption up to 30 watts, and integrated driver support for 100–240V input. Dimming and control are available via Casambi, DMX512, or Wireless DMX, and the fixture comes with a 200 cm cable. Rated IP20 and classified as Protection Class 1, the Jade ColourFlow is a reliable, high-performance lighting solution for museums, retail environments, event spaces, studios, and architectural applications where color, white light quality, and precision matter.

Surface mount LED downlights are lighting fixtures that are installed directly onto the surface of a ceiling or wall, rather than being recessed into the ceiling or wall cavity. They are affixed directly onto the surface of the ceiling or wall using screws or brackets. This makes them suitable for spaces where recessed installation is not feasible or desired, such as areas with concrete ceilings or where there is limited space above the ceiling. Surface mount LED downlights offer a versatile and aesthetically pleasing lighting solution that addresses both functional and design requirements across a variety of architectural and interior design contexts. These fixtures are often characterized by sleek and minimalist designs. They feature clean lines, simple shapes, and subtle detailing that contribute to a contemporary and sophisticated look. This design approach allows the downlights to seamlessly integrate into modern architectural environments without overwhelming the visual aesthetics. These fixtures are designed to enhance the architectural elements of the space rather than detract from them. They can be installed in a way that creates visual continuity with the overall design scheme, contributing to a cohesive and polished aesthetic.

Surface mount LED downlights are available in various shapes, such as round, square, rectangular, or other geometric shapes. This variety allows designers to choose a shape that best fits the aesthetic of the space or complements other architectural elements. These downlights come in different sizes to accommodate different lighting needs and spatial requirements. Larger fixtures may provide more powerful illumination suitable for general lighting purposes, while smaller fixtures may be used for accent lighting or in spaces with limited ceiling height. Surface mount downlights are available in a range of finishes, including brushed metal, matte white, black, chrome, and others. These finishes can help the fixture blend seamlessly with the surrounding decor or make a bold statement, depending on the desired design aesthetic. Surface mount downlights frequently feature cylindrical or cuboid shapes. Surface mount downlights in cylinder form resemble cylindrical tubes or columns when viewed from below. These fixtures emit light downward from a circular opening at the bottom of the cylinder. Cylinder-shaped downlights offer a sleek and modern aesthetic, suitable for contemporary interior designs. They provide a clean and minimalist appearance while delivering effective illumination. Surface mount downlights in cuboid form have a rectangular or square shape. They typically feature a flat or slightly recessed surface that emits light downward. Cuboid-shaped downlights offer a more geometric and structured appearance compared to cylindrical downlights. They are often used in spaces where clean lines and defined shapes are desired, such as modern or industrial interior designs.

Surface mount downlights are suitable for a wide range of lighting applications, including general, task, accent, and wall wash lighting. They can be used in diverse settings such as retail stores, restaurants, galleries, museums, showrooms, offices, high-end residences, and any space where structural conditions require surface-mounted or suspended downlights. Cuboid and cylinder lights are capable of accomplishing various lighting tasks. They can produce a wide beam of light for overall illumination, deliver focused pools of uniformly distributed, glare-free light for task lighting, and serve as accent lights to create visual interest, highlight special features, and enhance the ambiance of a space. Cuboid and cylinder lights can be used strategically as accent lights to add visual interest and drama to a space. By highlighting special features, they contribute to the overall design narrative and create a dynamic environment. Surface mount LED downlights provide an efficient and effective lighting solution for a variety of indoor and outdoor applications, combining durable construction with integrated components for optimal performance and functionality. The housing of surface mount LED downlights is typically constructed from either extruded or die-cast aluminum. Aluminum is also corrosion-resistant, making it suitable for use in various indoor and outdoor environments.

Within the housing of the downlight, all other essential components of the luminaire are installed. The light engine consists of the LED module that emit light. It also includes any associated optics or reflectors that help control the distribution of light. A COB LED module comes with multiple LED chips are mounted directly onto a single substrate (or board), forming a single light-emitting unit. COB LEDs are known for their high lumen density, uniform illuminance and compact design. Alternatively, the LED module can consist of an array of individual mid-power or high-power LEDs. These LEDs are soldered onto a metal-core printed circuit board (MCPCB), which provides thermal conductivity and helps dissipate heat generated by the LEDs. The LED module converts electrical energy into light, while the aluminum heat sink absorbs and disperses excess heat away from the LEDs. This prevents overheating and ensures consistent performance and longevity of the downlight. Optical systems within surface mount LED downlights utilize reflectors and lenses to create various light distributions. Reflectors are designed to redirect and control the direction of light emitted by the LED module. They are often used to create rotationally symmetrical or axially symmetrical light distributions. Lenses are often used in conjunction with reflectors to further refine and control the light distribution, especially for creating asymmetrical light patterns. Whether it's providing uniform ambient lighting, accentuating architectural features, or illuminating specific objects, the design of optical systems plays a crucial role in shaping the overall lighting effect produced by the downlights.
