The Ambient+ IP66 Rated 6" LED Downlight is a sealed, gasketed recessed fixture built for demanding environments that require controlled optical performance, strict environmental protection, and broad application flexibility. It supports both two-color switchable LED modes and static color LED modes, with static white options specified by CCT and static color options available in environmental yellow/amber (590nm) or environmental red/orange (617nm). These static colors are true-color wavelengths, not phosphor converted, and emit no light below 560nm when in static color mode. The downlight is LM-79 certified, LM-80 qualified, wet listed, and designed for up to 60,000 hours of rated life (L70). Delivered system performance aligns with TRR-06454, and nominal lumen values are defined for static white operation. In static white mode, users may select 80+ CRI or 90+ CRI via Option -HC, with a 15% lumen reduction for the higher CRI. This LED system is engineered for stable output and long-term thermal reliability through an aluminum heat sink and internal components that sustain cool operation and low maintenance.
Lighting control is integrated through an internal LED driver that supports standard 0-10V CCR 1.0% dimming, along with 120-277V, 50-60 Hz load-insensitive operation. The downlight is also compatible with Lutron Athena systems for project-specific dimming requirements. Its driver supports indoor and outdoor conditions ranging from −30°C to 60°C (−22°F to 140°F), allowing installation across covered ceiling exterior and interior environments. Optical performance is shaped by a regressed lens design with a clear poly lens and black louver above, contained within a smooth white seamless tapered aluminum self-flanged rigid cast trim. This trim is field-paintable and available in flare or ligature-resistant styles. Additional options include vandal and ligature resistance (Option -25) and a BioGard antimicrobial trim (Option -BGT) for infection control environments. The optical assembly is further protected by an IP66-rated sealing system that includes a silicone seal between the trim and lens, closed-cell gasketing on the trim flange, and O-rings on stainless steel fasteners to prevent infiltration. This construction meets ASTM E283 restricted airflow requirements of a maximum of 2 CFM.
The fixture housing is constructed from acrylic enameled aluminum that is rustproof and corrosion resistant, exceeding the ASTM 5% salt spray test for more than 1000 hours. Its shallow depth accommodates restricted plenums, while a modular, fully serviceable design ensures visibility through the aperture for long-term maintenance. A built-in plaster flange is included for simplified installation. The galvanized outlet box is UL Listed, insulated, and supplied with ½" and ¾" knockouts along with a removable cover. Installation hardware supports ceilings up to 1⅛" thick and includes two 27" hanger bars with adjusting brackets. The downlight is compatible with fire-rated enclosures (by others) and approved for wet, damp, or dry locations, including covered exterior ceilings. Through-branch conductors (4 #12 AWG 90°C) are supplied for Type IC listings, expanding flexibility for new construction applications.
The Ambient+ downlight meets extensive compliance requirements, including Air Tight, BABAA, FCC Part 15, IC Rated, IEC/EN 60601-1-2 for electromagnetic compatibility in medical electrical equipment, ISO 5 (Class 100) Cleanroom, Level 1 through Level 3 Infection Control, NSF/ANSI 2, UL Wet-Listed, IP66, and vandal resistant certifications. With a 6" round aperture, recessed mounting, and fixture depth of 4-3/8", it is appropriate for both interior and covered ceiling exterior installations. Light source options include LED – Ambient+ and LED – Static Color, supported by wattages ranging from 15.8–20.5 watts or 24.5–30.6 watts depending on configuration. Available CCTs span 2700 K, 3000 K, 3500 K, 4000 K, and 5000 K, along with the 590nm amber and 617nm circadian static color options. Emergency capability is provided through a remote inverter when required.
