As the first Axis luminaire engineered to support Geometric Lighting, Sculpt Recessed breaks free from traditional illuminated ceiling layouts, enabling lighting designers to create completely original visual patterns. This flexibility allows for the design of traces of light with reduced visual weight, resulting in clean, modern ceiling appearances made possible by patent-pending technology—all without sacrificing lighting performance.
Engineered with precision and built for seamless integration, Sculpt Recessed features extruded aluminum housing with a nominal thickness of 0.080", die-cast aluminum end caps and hangers, die-formed steel interior brackets, and injection-molded extruded acrylic lenses. Its structural strength supports continuous runs with hairline connections using 4', 8', 12', or custom-length modules, designated as systems (S#) for lengths exceeding 12'. Axis’s specialized joining system ensures that these runs are both structurally secure and visually uninterrupted.
Sculpt Recessed also introduces the Integrated MiniFlange—a patent-pending feature that revolutionizes installation in acoustic ceilings. This integrated detail supports adjacent ceiling tiles while eliminating the need for an additional T-bar, reducing material use and labor. It also simplifies ceiling layouts and trade coordination by concealing ceiling tile cutlines for a more refined, finished look. Available in multiple T-bar profiles, the MiniFlange enhances both form and function.
The lighting system is compatible with a wide range of drivers and control options to support various design goals. These include Lutron Hi-lume 1% EcoSystem (LDE1), DALI, DMX, Xitanium SR for wireless sensors, and multiple BIOS drivers. BIOS options such as STC (static spectrum) and DYN (dynamic spectrum with Bio-Dimming™) offer full integration of SkyBlue® technology for circadian lighting support. TW drivers enable tunable white functionality with independent control of brightness and CCT, while Power over Ethernet (PoE) compatibility adds further control and integration flexibility with platforms like MOLEX, IGOR, and SMARTENGINE. UL2108 certification is provided for both integral and remote driver applications.
For emergency preparedness, Sculpt Recessed can be equipped with an integral emergency battery pack or connected to an emergency circuit. Input voltages range from 120V to 347V, including UNV and DC options. Color rendering is high quality, with CRI ratings of 80 or 90 available. BIOS models maintain a CRI minimum of 80 with R9 values exceeding 75 across all CCTs. Available CCTs include 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K, all with excellent color consistency within a 3-step MacAdam ellipse across and within fixtures. BIOS tunable models support CCT ranges from 4000K to 2700K and 3500K to 2700K.
Sculpt Recessed luminaires are built to last, offering a minimum LED life of 50,000 hours at 85% lumen maintenance when tested at 25°C ambient, in compliance with IES LM-80. The aluminum construction ensures optimal thermal management to extend fixture life, and the luminaires are rated for dry and damp locations with operational ambient temperatures ranging from 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F).
