Dia is engineered with energy efficiency in mind, meeting the low power density requirements of sustainable lighting standards, including IESNA RP-1-04 guidelines. For even greater energy savings, optional integral lighting controls can be incorporated into the system. Thoughtfully designed to reduce installation time and simplify maintenance, Dia features a hinged center optic component and removable driver covers. In addition, its compatibility with Armstrong® TechZone Ceiling Systems ensures architectural integration within 3”, 6”, or 12” wide technical zones used for air diffusers, audio systems, and more—making it a smart choice for open-plan ceilings and modern commercial interiors. Dia also pairs well with Beam 3 Recessed and Beam 6 Recessed for cohesive design strategies.
The luminaire’s advanced VL Optic lens is constructed from precision-formed PMMA with a microconical structure that achieves 92% light transmission while eliminating high-angle glare. This optical system utilizes tight-radius conical prisms to cut off brightness above 55°, directing light away from uncomfortable viewing zones to improve visual comfort without compromising output. The result is a uniform, glare-free illumination that maintains efficiency while enhancing the perception of the lit space.
Constructed with durable, high-quality materials, Dia features a die-formed cold rolled steel housing, aluminum extruded central lens housing, and precision-engineered lens components that include PMMA side lenses and reflectors. The interior is finished in highly reflective matte white powder coat for improved optical performance and to diffuse any lamp images within the chamber.
A wide range of driver options are available to meet project-specific lighting control needs. Standard dimming includes 0-10V and Lutron’s Hi-lume LDE1 driver with Soft-on, Fade-to-Black. Additional options include DALI, DMX, and Xitanium SR for wireless sensors. Dia also supports BIOS technology, offering both static (STC) and dynamic (DYN) spectrum control with BIOS SkyBlue® and Bio-Dimming™ features. For tunable white applications, drivers such as DALIDT6, DALIDT8, and Lutron’s LDTW enable precise control of color temperature and intensity. Power over Ethernet (PoE) options are also available and certified to UL2108 standards, compatible with smart control systems such as MOLEX, IGOR, and SMARTENGINE.
Dia supports CRI ratings of 80 or 90, and BIOS versions offer CRI 80 with R9 values greater than 75 across all CCTs. Available color temperatures include 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K, all held to within a 3-step MacAdam ellipse for exceptional color consistency within and across fixtures. For dynamic color control, BIOS Tunable White configurations offer transitions between 4000K–2700K and 3500K–2700K with full control over spectral output and intensity.
With a minimum LED lifetime of 50,000 hours at 85% lumen maintenance (tested in compliance with IES LM-80 at 25°C), Dia is built for long-lasting, reliable performance. Its aluminum housing supports passive thermal management to maximize LED longevity. Designed for dry and damp locations, Dia is rated for indoor use in ambient temperatures ranging from 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F), making it a versatile solution for a wide array of commercial environments.
