The Vault Pendant, conceived by the London-based creative agency Fourmation, is designed to serve as an architectural feature within interior spaces, particularly ideal for environments with high-level open, exposed ceilings. This flexible and easily installed lighting system allows for a wide range of configurations, from linear pendants to full ceiling grids, complementing any interior design while providing functional illumination.
Crafted with simplicity and versatility in mind, Vault consists of a frame made from extruded aluminium featuring a light opening covered by opal acrylic glass. The system uses die-cast solid metal blocks to connect components. There are three types of blocks: the Power block, which comes with a connection cable and an external driver; the Link block, enabling electrical through-wiring; and the mechanical-only Block, used solely for structural connections.
The lighting bars are powered instantly when placed between the blocks, with each Power block capable of supporting up to four light bars horizontally and powering a 6.2-meter light bar. The system’s profile can be mounted in two directions, allowing the main light distribution either upwards and downwards or sideways, offering symmetrical and omnidirectional light scattering for flexible lighting design.
Installation is quick and cost-effective, supported by 4-meter height-adjustable wires for suspension. Vault is designed for easy rebuilding, upgrading, and adaptation in existing lighting systems. Additionally, Vault can be integrated with acoustic tiles, which sit on top of the light bars to improve sound absorption while maintaining the lighting’s clean architectural look. These tiles are secured by white lacquered cover plates or clips depending on the system configuration.
In terms of materials, the Vault system features an extruded aluminium profile, an opal acrylic glass diffuser, and die-cast solid metal blocks. The pendant system consists of two primary components: blocks that serve as suspended connection units, and light bars that function as the light-emitting elements. Each Power block is supplied with a 1.8-meter transparent cable on the secondary side and a 2.5-meter white five-cord connection cable with flying leads on the primary side, with the driver positioned above the ceiling. For installations with fixed ceilings or when the luminaire is suspended lower than 1.8 meters, a driver box accessory is available to conceal the driver.
The Vault Pendant includes an integrated LED light source available in 3000K or 4000K color temperatures with a CRI of 90, ensuring high-quality color rendering. It boasts a lifespan rated at L90B10 for 60,000 hours and carries an energy efficiency classification of class E. The diffuser is made from opal acrylic glass, providing a balanced, glare-free light output.
The system uses a 24V DALI driver from Tridonic, offering smooth dimming control from 1 to 100% and a driver lifespan of 50,000 hours. The modular design of Vault includes two types of light bars: the standard Light Bar that supports electrical through-wiring and the Light Bar End, which provides a mechanical connection on one side only.
When configuring square ceiling systems with Vault using 1144 mm light bars, acoustic tiles can be added to enhance sound control. These tiles are placed on top of the light bars oriented with the main light direction to the sides and are held securely in place by cover plates or clips. Additional accessories such as cover plates, angle brackets, and acoustic tiles are available to customize the installation further.
