The QULON HELIOS is a solar street lighting controller designed for efficient management of solar-powered street lighting networks. As a comprehensive energy management device, it harnesses solar power to optimize lighting operations, ensuring sustainable and intelligent energy use within smart city infrastructures. By integrating advanced monitoring and control features, the device enables responsible illumination while supporting eco-friendly and reliable street lighting systems.

QULON HELIOS allows for remote, real-time monitoring and management of individual lighting systems connected to solar panels. It supports a wide range of battery types, including GEL, AGM, and Flooded batteries, and is compatible with solar panels up to 80 V. The controller supports 12/24 V luminaires with or without integrated drivers, making it suitable for diverse street lighting configurations. Communication with connected equipment is facilitated via an RS-485 interface, while 2G mobile networks enable seamless communication with the QULON server for centralized control and remote configuration.

The device incorporates MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology, achieving up to 97% charging efficiency. Battery management is optimized through a three-step charging process, including bulk charge, absorption charge, and float charge, with automatic detection of the nominal battery voltage (12 V or 24 V). Remote management and configuration are available via GSM/GPRS/EDGE, enabling flexible control over connected luminaires and power systems. The controller includes an integrated LED driver, monitoring of the current supplied to lamps, event scheduling for light control, and electronic protection against overload currents, ensuring safe and reliable operation.

Mechanically, the QULON HELIOS is housed in a protective metal and plastic cover with an integrated radiator, providing durability and heat dissipation. The unit measures 128 mm in length, 88 mm in height, and 128 mm in width, and weighs 1.8 kg. It is intended for mounting on flat surfaces, typically within a lighting control cabinet, and is rated IP20 for dust and moisture protection, suitable for indoor or sheltered environments.

The electrical specifications include a rated battery voltage of 12–24 V, maximum open-circuit voltage of 100 V for solar panels, a maximum charge current of 20 A, and maximum power handling of 240 W for 12 V systems or 480 W for 24 V systems. Connected devices may draw up to 5 A of load current. The device operates reliably in temperatures ranging from -40 to +70°C and can be stored safely between -50 and +80°C, with a maximum relative humidity of 95%.

Interfaces and connectivity options include an RS-485 serial interface supporting line lengths up to 1500 meters and a GSM module capable of operating on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz bands. Terminal block connectors (15EDGVС) allow secure connections for batteries, luminaires, and solar panels. Operational indicators include LEDs for GSM and RS-485 activity, providing visual confirmation of system status. Certified to CE and RoHS standards and backed by a 36-month warranty, QULON HELIOS delivers reliable, smart, and sustainable solar street lighting control for modern urban environments.
