Medium Intensity LED Taxiway Edge Light with FAA L-861T and ICAO Annex 14 Compliance

The PRO APF MITL is a medium intensity LED taxiway edge light designed to provide reliable and efficient guidance for aircraft during taxiing operations. Engineered with advanced LED technology, this fixture offers long life and high performance, ensuring safe movement on taxiways across diverse airfield environments.

Certified for worldwide use, the PRO APF MITL is available in multiple models tailored to meet the rigorous standards set by the FAA, ICAO, and Canadian TP312 regulations. These certifications include FAA AC 150/5345-46 (L-861T), ICAO Annex 14 sections 5.3.18.7 and 5.3.18.8 for blue taxiway lighting, and Canada TP312 Blue 5.3.10.13 along with B10 and B11 requirements. This broad compliance makes the MITL suitable for international airports seeking reliable and standardized lighting solutions.

One of the key features of the PRO APF MITL is its incorporation of WaveTrac™ technology, which reduces power consumption by up to 60% compared to traditional incandescent fixtures. This energy-saving capability significantly lowers operational costs and contributes to sustainability efforts in airport lighting management. Additionally, the fixture supports a universal power supply system common to PRO APF in-pavement lighting fixtures, streamlining supply inventories and maintenance.

The MITL’s design emphasizes ease of installation and serviceability. A removable nut secures the glass dome to the housing, allowing quick access to the power supply and LED optical assembly for straightforward maintenance. Built-in leveling bosses accommodate a standard circular bubble level, and the fixture uses a three-screw leveling system with hex head bolts to facilitate precise alignment during setup.

Available in three installed heights—14 inches (350 mm), 24 inches (607 mm), and 30 inches (759 mm)—the PRO APF MITL accommodates a range of airport design requirements. It is compatible with both 1.5-inch and 2-inch baseplate hubs, enabling flexible installation options across different runway and taxiway configurations.

The fixture employs long-life LED technology with a projected operational life exceeding 50,000 hours at 6.6 amps, which greatly reduces replacement frequency and maintenance efforts. The housing is constructed of highly durable cast aluminum painted yellow to enhance corrosion resistance and visibility on the airfield.

Designed to operate with up to five-step constant current systems, the MITL can adapt to various airport lighting control setups. For non-FAA environments, an external power cord and grounding option are available to ensure compatibility. An optional energy-efficient arctic kit is also offered, which applies a filament directly to the glass dome to minimize energy loss in cold climates.

Safety and durability are further enhanced by a frangible coupling featuring an integral fluid barrier, which prevents ambient moisture and precipitation from entering the fixture base. The LED and electronic components are protected within an IP67-rated enclosure, providing robust defense against dust and water ingress to maintain reliable operation even in harsh environmental conditions.

The PRO APF MITL’s typical fixture in-rush voltage is a low 1.5 volts, contributing to its overall electrical efficiency. Altogether, these design elements make the PRO APF MITL a highly reliable, energy-efficient, and easy-to-maintain solution for medium intensity taxiway edge lighting needs worldwide.
