CSL’s GyroShift® recessed LED downlights introduce a new standard in adjustable lighting with easy, tool-free adjustability from below the ceiling. The patented GyroShift® bezel-and-ball system allows the downlight to shift the full, round beam of light to any angle between 0° and 45° while maintaining uniform brightness on the target. Infinite rotation and tilt capability ensure precise aiming without any loss of light, and the field-changeable optics are available in 10°, 30°, and 50° beam spreads. The system also accommodates media inserts such as Solite, Frosted, Linear Spread, Hex Louver, and Wall Wash to fine-tune the quality or diffusion of the light.
GyroShift® optics are engineered to maintain uniform brightness and a round beam at any angle. Unlike conventional adjustable downlights, the LED light engine remains stationary with a thermally optimized connection to the compact, shallow 4″ housing, which functions as a large heat sink. The patented optical carriage shifts the lens while the LED and driver remain fixed, delivering up to 2,254 lumens at targets up to 45° from nadir. At full tilt, the upper hemisphere of the lens remains quiet, reducing flash on the trim while preserving full light output on the target. The bezel twist mechanism also allows the lens to be exchanged, converted into a wall wash, or combined with up to two media inserts for additional light shaping, making adjustments simple and efficient.
The GyroShift® system incorporates high-quality LEDs selected with 2-step SDCM binning for consistent color output and a lifetime of up to 55,000 hours at L70. The light engine is complemented by high-quality optics and high-performance drivers, compatible with TRIAC, ELV, 0–10V, and EcoSystem dimming, with standard dimming to 1% and optional 0.5% or Warm Dim configurations. Rated wattages range from 10W, 15W, to 20W, delivering up to 1,317 lumens with an efficacy of up to 66 LPW. Color temperature options include 2700K, 3000K, and 3500K at 90+ CRI, providing consistent, high-quality light output across applications.
GyroShift® downlights offer flexible installation with multiple trim and housing options. Trims are available in fixed or adjustable styles, with round or square apertures and finishes including White with White Flange, Black with White Flange, Haze with White Flange, and Bronze with White Flange. Housing options support remodeler installations with native IC, new construction trays, or enclosed foam boxes. All configurations accommodate ceiling thicknesses from ½″ to 2″, with minimum plenum heights ranging from 1″ to 5½″ depending on the configuration. Ceiling materials can include drywall or T-bar grids, and the compact design allows installation in shallow plenums while maintaining optimal thermal performance.
GyroShift® downlights are cULus Listed, UL Listed for Damp and Wet Locations, Native IC rated, CCEA (Chicago Plenum) approved, and compliant with CA Title 24-JA8 standards without media. Many configurations also meet Energy Star® requirements. The system is fully field-serviceable from below the ceiling, allowing for driver and LED replacement without major disruption.
