DIN Rail Mounted BACnet Wireless Node with MiraMesh Technology for Simplified Building Automation Integration

The W-BACnet is a wireless communication solution that replaces traditional BACnet MS/TP cabling with a reliable, self-forming mesh network. By eliminating the need for time-consuming installation planning, complex wiring, daisy-chaining, and troubleshooting, it simplifies system setup and reduces labor costs. The Plug-n-Play functionality allows for immediate operation without programming, enabling fast deployment and seamless integration into building automation systems. By removing physical cabling, W-BACnet supports energy savings and sustainability goals through flexible wireless control. Acting as a proxy for a connected BACnet MS/TP device, each unit extends the communication bus wirelessly, transforming wired products into wireless ones. A complete W-BACnet system is composed of a single W-BACnet Gateway connected to as many as 100 W-BACnet Nodes, creating a scalable and stable network infrastructure.

Built upon LumenRadio’s patented MiraMesh technology, W-BACnet provides ultra-reliable device-to-device connectivity with extended range and concurrent Bluetooth support for configuration and diagnostics. MiraMesh enables the creation of a wireless BACnet MS/TP system that preserves protocol integrity while maintaining low latency communication between devices. The system supports daisy-chaining of up to four devices, operates seamlessly in indoor environments, and allows independent baud rate configuration across the network. Push-in terminals simplify wiring and speed up installation, further reducing setup time and potential points of failure.

The W-BACnet PRO offers exceptional scalability, allowing up to four BACnet clients to connect through a single unit. It maintains full compatibility with all BACnet MS/TP devices, ensuring interoperability across different manufacturers and systems. Network commissioning is completed in only three straightforward steps, allowing integrators to establish a functioning wireless BACnet network in minutes. The self-optimizing mesh infrastructure intelligently determines the most efficient communication path between devices, ensuring dependable performance even in complex or changing environments. Each hop in the network can reach up to 500 meters line-of-sight, or approximately 50 to 70 meters indoors, enabling coverage for an entire building. The system leverages Cognitive Coexistence, another patented LumenRadio technology, which ensures industrial-grade reliability and immunity to radio interference. This guarantees stable operation in environments with competing wireless traffic. The modular configuration design allows each connected BACnet device to operate at its own baud rate, removing the need for uniform settings across the entire network.

Technically, the W-BACnet PRO operates from a 24 VAC ±15% 50–60 Hz or 24 VDC ±15% power supply, consuming a maximum of 2.5 W and offering a 24 V output rated at 10 W. It includes an auto-resettable fuse for protection and supports both solid and stranded cables from 0.14 – 0.5 mm² (AWG 24 – 20). Operating within the 2.45 GHz ISM band (2400–2483 MHz), it supports baud rates of 9600, 19200, 38400, and 76800 bps, with selectable parity and stop bit options. The system accommodates up to eight hops within the mesh network and delivers a maximum effective radiated power of 20 dBm. Constructed from ABS UL94-V0 material in white (RAL 9003), the device carries an IP40 protection rating and operates within an ambient temperature range of –20 °C to +55 °C, with storage capability down to –30 °C and up to +80 °C. It tolerates humidity levels from 10 % to 95 % non-condensing. Compact and lightweight, the unit measures 86 mm × 86 mm × 25.5 mm and weighs 95 g, making it ideal for space-limited control enclosures.

Through the combination of MiraMesh technology, flexible configuration options, and straightforward installation, the W-BACnet PRO transforms traditional BACnet MS/TP systems into modern, wireless communication networks. It offers reliable, scalable, and interference-resistant connectivity tailored for today’s building automation, HVAC, and energy management applications.
