Lutron DALI-2 digital LED drivers deliver a versatile lighting solution for both tunable white and static white applications, providing precise single-address digital control. These drivers are fully compatible with Lutron DALI-2 control systems, ensuring reliable performance and seamless integration in architectural, commercial, and professional lighting installations. OEMs can configure the drivers using QwikFig Air to operate either in tunable white mode via DALI-2 type 8 or in static white mode via DALI-2 type 6, offering flexibility for a wide range of lighting designs. Tunable white operation supports dimming down to 1%, while static white operation achieves dimming as low as 0.1%, accommodating both subtle ambient effects and high-performance illumination requirements.
Dimming is achieved through a combination of constant-current reduction (CCR) for currents up to 200 mA and pulse-width modulation (PWM) for lower currents, with both channels synchronized to maintain consistent output. An integrated bus power supply can provide power to compatible devices via the DALI terminals, with the capability for up to three drivers to supply the link simultaneously. By default, the integrated power supply is disabled, but OEMs can enable it as needed. Each driver consumes a single digital address that encompasses both intensity and color temperature, simplifying system configuration while maintaining full control over lighting parameters.
The drivers are designed for long-term reliability, with a rated lifetime of 50,000 hours at a calibration point of 167 °F (75 °C) for the W case and 158 °F (70 °C) for the YN/YS case. Each unit is fully factory-tested to ensure 100% performance prior to shipping, and the drivers comply with FCC Part 15 Class B and RoHS standards. DALI link functionality offers a simpler and more reliable wiring alternative to 0–10 V systems, guaranteeing compatibility between Lutron DALI-2 controllers and LED drivers. The topology-free design accommodates changes in zones or control schemes without rewiring, and non-volatile memory restores all settings after power interruptions.
Regulatory compliance and certifications reinforce the drivers’ suitability for professional installations. The units are cULus Listed Class P, NOM certified for Mexico, and manufactured in facilities registered to ISO 9001:2015 quality standards. Electrical performance meets stringent industry requirements, including inrush current limits under NEMA 410-2011, UL 8750 standards for LED equipment, and Class 2 output safety. Additionally, the drivers comply with ENERGY STAR for Luminaires Version 2.1 and DLC version 4.3 where applicable, and are DALI-2 certified according to IEC62386-101, 102, 207, and 209 standards, covering general requirements, control gear, LED modules, and tunable white operation.
Performance specifications include a dimming range from 100% to 0.1%, operation across 120 V~ to 277 V~ at 50/60 Hz, and smooth fading to the desired level at turn-on. The drivers feature standby power consumption of less than 0.5 W, with output protection against open circuits, short circuits, and over-temperature conditions. Environmental tolerances include relative humidity up to 90% non-condensing and a minimum ambient operating temperature of 0 °C (32 °F). These drivers are rated for indoor use and are suitable for both dry and damp locations, making them a reliable choice for versatile lighting applications.
