The EG25-G LTE Cat 4 module is built to meet the demanding requirements of modern M2M and IoT applications by combining broad network compatibility, dependable connectivity, and precise location technologies within a compact, unified form factor. Based on 3GPP Release 11 LTE technology, it supports downlink speeds up to 150 Mbps and uplink speeds up to 50 Mbps, ensuring responsive data transmission across a vast range of devices used in industrial, commercial, and remote-access environments. The module maintains full backward compatibility with existing EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks, enabling stable operation even in regions without 4G or 3G coverage. This extensive network flexibility is further reinforced through global support for LTE-FDD, LTE-TDD, WCDMA, and GSM bands, making it suitable for international deployments that must remain reliable across diverse RF environments.

A key advantage of the EG25-G is its integrated multi-constellation GNSS receiver, which supports GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou/Compass, Galileo, and QZSS. Combined with Qualcomm® IZat™ Gen8C Lite technology, the module provides fast, highly accurate, and consistent positioning performance. These GNSS capabilities function as the module’s “optical” sensing layer through satellite-based spatial tracking, enabling precise navigation, automated routing, and synchronized control functions that rely on exact geographic data. This makes the module invaluable for digital signage synchronization, mobile asset tracking, industrial routers, rugged handheld devices, and video surveillance systems that require both reliable connectivity and dependable location accuracy.

The module’s architecture supports seamless migration across various Quectel product lines, including UMTS/HSPA+ modules such as the UC20 and UC200T, as well as multi-mode LTE modules like the EC25, EC21, EC20 variants, and EG21-G. This compatibility allows developers to upgrade products without redesigning hardware, preserving long-term investment in existing platforms. A rich suite of Internet protocols enhances its adaptability across applications, while industry-standard interfaces, including dual UARTs, USB 2.0 high-speed data functions, SIM support, PCM audio, I2C, SDIO, SGMII, ADC channels, and dedicated antenna pads for primary, diversity, and GNSS functions, ensure broad integration potential. The module’s connectivity also extends to optional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionality through SDIO and UART/PCM interfaces, supporting expanded wireless control and communication scenarios within larger IoT ecosystems.

To enhance communication reliability, the device incorporates downlink MIMO technology with Rx-diversity antenna support, allowing it to maintain stable data rates and robust link performance in demanding wireless conditions. This contributes to consistent device-to-cloud communication and dependable remote control, which is especially valuable in lighting control applications, signage automation, and distributed IoT environments where network stability directly affects command execution. Additional features such as eCall, DTMF, audio playback and recording, VoLTE audio capability, QuecFile, QuecLocator®, and delta firmware upgrades over the air (DFOTA) expand its functionality for intelligent systems that require continuous updates, remote diagnostics, and real-time control.

Electrical performance is optimized for low power consumption, with sleep modes operating as low as 3 mA and idle usage around 22 mA, while still supporting strong RF output across GSM, WCDMA, LTE-FDD, and LTE-TDD bands. Wide temperature tolerances ranging from -35°C to +75°C under normal operation, and -40°C to +85°C in extended conditions, make the module dependable in harsh industrial and outdoor installations. Sensitivity performance remains high across all supported bands, ensuring reliable signal reception even in challenging RF environments typical of dense urban settings or wide-area industrial deployments.

The EG25-G includes extensive software support for Windows, Linux, and Android platforms through USB serial drivers, GNSS drivers, RIL drivers, NDIS and MBIM drivers, and a full suite of Linux network interface tools. Protocol support is equally comprehensive, spanning TCP, UDP, PPP, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, MQTT, SSL, FTPS, SMTPS, NTP, NITZ, PING, QMI, CMUX, MMS, and file-based functions. This breadth of compatibility allows system designers to implement sophisticated control logic, automated reporting, remote management, and synchronized device behavior across complex IoT environments.

The module is built in a lightweight 29.0 mm by 32.0 mm LGA package weighing approximately 4.9 g, operating at a typical supply voltage of 3.8 V, and supporting bandwidths from 1.4 MHz through 20 MHz. Compliance with 3GPP E-UTRA Release 11 and enhanced AT command sets ensures smooth integration into existing device ecosystems. Comprehensive global regulatory approvals, including certifications across Europe, North America, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Thailand, Singapore, and South Africa, alongside RoHS and WHQL compliance, confirm the module’s suitability for worldwide deployment across automotive, industrial, commercial, and consumer IoT applications.
