The Northport Path Light is a contemporary tribute to the classic acorn streetlamp, a design deeply embedded in American streetscape heritage. Unlike traditional designs featuring a glass globe, the iconic “acorn” shape is subtly represented through the negative space at the top of each luminaire. This elegant design allows Northport path lights to harmonize beautifully with the collection’s area lights, providing warm, inviting illumination that extends the usability of footpaths and pedestrian promenades. Standing 37 5/16 inches tall and designed for surface mounting, the path light is crafted from cast aluminum, housing an LED cartridge and structure built for durability and performance.
Built to meet Buy America compliance and International Dark-Sky standards, Northport path lights offer both clear and diffused lens options in multiple outputs and distributions. This ensures low-glare, visually pleasing illumination tailored to a wide variety of settings. Inside the area lights of the collection, an LED element is discreetly mounted below the lens, evoking nostalgic imagery reminiscent of gas lamps and early filament bulbs. This subtle homage reinforces a strong sense of place while providing modern performance. The visual comfort and performance light engines developed by Landscape Forms enhance the lighting experience, allowing for asymmetric or symmetric distributions that perfectly suit different environments and scales.
The Northport collection extends beyond lighting to include benches, litters, planters, and bike racks, all inspired by the sculptural curves and craftsmanship of early 20th-century design. The cast aluminum legs and frames reflect the decorative ironwork hallmark of that era but are reimagined with the refinement and lightness achievable only through modern materials and manufacturing techniques. Northport litters, for instance, come in top and side-opening configurations, featuring large 30-gallon rotomolded bodies and robust aluminum and steel construction, combining practicality with aesthetic appeal.
As part of a cohesive streetscape solution, Northport path lights integrate traditional American design with contemporary innovation. Landscape Forms' advanced performance optics deliver required ground-level illumination while creating an engaging interplay of light and shadow on the luminaire’s sculptural surfaces. This approach results in a modern, efficient lighting solution presented in a sturdy, public space-ready form.
The path light’s housing is crafted from cast aluminum, featuring an LED cartridge secured with magni-coated steel screws. The housing incorporates an acrylic diffused lens and uses magni-coated steel hardware throughout for enhanced durability. Electrically, the fixture operates on 120V to 277V with a 50/60Hz electronic driver, supports phase-cut dimming, starts reliably at temperatures as low as -20°C, and is surge protected. The driver compartment, located in the luminaire’s lower section, is weather-sealed with cast aluminum doors.
Its light engine is a sealed, vented LED cartridge designed for ease of installation and maintenance through a weatherproof quick disconnect. High-powered LEDs mounted on a RoHS-compliant circuit board are paired with PMMA optics on each LED for precise light control. The path light is available in color temperatures of 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K, all delivering a color rendering index (CRI) greater than 80, ensuring vibrant and natural illumination.
