The SVALA Linear Pendant is the result of a creative collaboration between designers Stefan Borselius and Thomas Bernstrand, who have previously worked together on notable furniture projects. This time, they have turned their focus to lighting, designing a pendant luminaire that embodies simplicity and elegance. The design features a slightly bent aluminum screen that provides a discreet, floating appearance while effectively directing light downward onto the work surface. Inspired by the graceful flight of a swallow, the aluminum sheet balances above the light source, enhancing the impression that the luminaire floats effortlessly over the table.
The SVALA Pendant offers symmetrical light distribution with the added benefit of light control, making it suitable for various work environments. Instead of a traditional power cord, the fixture uses a "power through wire" suspension, which further emphasizes its floating effect. The frame is crafted from lacquered aluminum, combining durability with a sleek, minimalist look.
Electrical connection is facilitated through a 5x2.5 mm² terminal in the ceiling box, which also allows onward wiring for easy installation. The LED light source operates at 3000K with a high color rendering index (CRI > 90) and a color consistency within SDCM 3. Other color temperatures are available upon request. The LED boasts a long lifespan, rated for over 60,000 hours at L80 B10.
Equipped with a DALI driver housed within the ceiling box, the pendant supports light dimming and control via an external resilient pushbutton. Notably, the system retains the last set light level even after power interruptions. The SVALA Linear Pendant is suspended by a 1.5-meter "power through wire" cable, combining refined aesthetics with functional lighting performance.
