Linear LED Wallwasher and Wall Grazing Light for Creative Architectural Lighting

Lightgap is a sophisticated lighting system designed to highlight the tactile qualities of architectural materials with extraordinary precision. By producing a high-contrast beam of grazing light, it accentuates the surface texture of wood, concrete, natural stone, and other relief-like materials, revealing even the finest structural details. Unlike conventional wallwashers that provide soft, diffused illumination, Lightgap delivers a visually dynamic composition of light and shadow, adding depth and dimensionality to interior walls. This makes it an ideal solution for enhancing materials in spaces such as restaurants, hotels, and heritage architecture, where the ambiance relies on both material richness and lighting atmosphere.

The luminaire’s exceptionally narrow light distribution produces uniform wall illumination even when installed as close as 10 centimeters from the surface. This grazing light technique emphasizes texture with minimal distance, making Lightgap especially effective for highlighting three-dimensional surfaces like exposed stone or sculpted plaster. To further refine the effect, the luminaire can be tilted up to ±10 degrees within its mounting profile, allowing for easy post-installation adjustments that optimize the beam angle and wall coverage.

Designed for visual comfort as well as performance, Lightgap features compact dimensions and shallow recess depth, keeping the luminaire hidden from view and maintaining clean architectural lines. The shielding angle of the light, which helps control glare, depends on the ceiling height and the depth of any suspended or dry construction elements. Ceiling details, such as narrow gaps between the wall and drywall, can also be used intentionally to manipulate the angle of light, allowing designers to fine-tune the beam’s ground reach and visual impact.

Lightgap is engineered for seamless integration into architectural designs. It is available in three different lengths to suit a variety of room layouts and can be installed in a continuous line. When multiple units are joined end to end, they form a consistent and elegant band of light, ensuring uniform brightness across long wall stretches. The aluminum housing and precision optics – including ERCO’s Spherolit lens and collimating optical polymer – deliver outstanding efficiency and consistency in beam quality.

With high-power LEDs in a range of color temperatures (2700K, 3000K, 3500K, or 4000K), Lightgap supports both warm and neutral lighting schemes. The system is compatible with multiple control options, including switchable, DALI dimmable, and Casambi Bluetooth configurations, providing flexible integration into both traditional and smart lighting environments. Whether used to dramatize architectural textures or to provide efficient ambient lighting, Lightgap offers a premium solution that merges elegance, precision, and adaptability in architectural lighting design.
