The HDL-LED Series is a robust, linear hazardous location LED fixture engineered to provide safe, reliable illumination for equipment and facilities in the most demanding mining, marine, and industrial environments. Widely adopted by global mining OEMs, the HDL-LED has become a standard fixture on mining shovels, draglines, and other heavy-duty machinery that endure constant shock, vibration, and exposure to harsh conditions. Its durable design, high lumen output, and versatility make it well-suited for machine houses, electrical rooms, engine rooms, cargo holds, passageways, offshore wind turbine platforms, and other hazardous or hard-to-reach locations.
Available in three models, the HDL-LED Series delivers tailored performance to meet a range of lighting requirements. The HDL1 model consumes 28 watts and produces up to 3,150 lumens, the HDL2 model uses 55 watts to generate up to 6,300 lumens, and the HDL3 model operates at 84 watts with a maximum output of 9,400 lumens. All models use 5000K CCT LEDs as standard, offering bright, clear illumination with a rated lifespan of 50,000 hours. Power options include universal 120–277V AC (50/60Hz), 277–480V AC (50/60Hz), and for the HDL1 only, a 12–24V DC version for low-voltage applications. The fully potted, replaceable driver ensures long-term reliability and is designed with a power factor greater than 0.9 at 120V, with built-in 20kV/kA surge protection.
Designed for extreme environments, the HDL-LED Series can operate in ambient temperatures from -40°C to +50°C for standard units and 0°C to +40°C for models equipped with the optional emergency battery backup (EMB). The EMB option, available on all sizes, provides approximately 1,100 lumens for 90 minutes during power outages and has a battery life expectancy of seven to ten years. Construction features include a marine-grade extruded aluminum housing, marine-grade die-cast aluminum end plates, and a diffuse polycarbonate lens for uniform light distribution. The fixture is IP67 rated for water and dust ingress protection, and its rugged build resists corrosion, high shock, vibration, and severe weather exposure.
Mounting flexibility is built into the design, with surface or conduit mounting (with 1/2-inch NPT outlets) as standard, adjustable mounting feet included, and optional accessories such as retrofit brackets for Phoenix LFSB or RSL fixtures and harp kits. The threaded plug and two included cord grips accept cord diameters between 0.25 and 0.375 inches, and the fixture is designed for through-wiring to allow continuous row installations. Weights vary by model, with the HDL1 at 6.5 lb (3.0 kg), HDL2 at 11.0 lb (5.0 kg), and HDL3 at 14.0 lb (6.4 kg).
The HDL-LED Series meets a comprehensive set of safety and performance standards, including ETL/cETL certification to UL 1598 for wet locations, UL 1598A for marine outside type (saltwater), and UL 844 for hazardous locations, rated Class I Division 2 (Groups A, B, C, D), Class I Zone 2 Group IIC, and temperature code T3A with a maximum surface temperature of 180°C. It also complies with CSA C22.2 No. 250.0, CSA C22.2 No. 137, CE, ABS, and both the Buy American Act (BAA) and Build America Buy America Act (BABA). With LM79 and LM80 test data available, the HDL-LED Series offers proven performance for critical hazardous location lighting applications.
