At the heart of Zen Square Pendant is a high-precision light guide fabricated from PMMA material. This advanced optical component utilizes Axis’s patented molecular optics and precision-coupled design to direct light in three dimensions. In-plane mixing technology ensures superior color uniformity and an evenly diffused light-emitting area with no visible “head lighting” from the LEDs. The pendant configuration is engineered to deliver both direct and indirect lighting simultaneously, producing 3,667 lumens upward and 1,129 lumens downward for a total of 4,796 lumens at just 38.5 watts, resulting in an impressive efficacy of 125 lm/W.
Ideal for modern interior applications, Zen Square Pendant offers system runs greater than 12 feet (designated as S(L)) using 4-foot and 8-foot sections seamlessly assembled on site. The housing is constructed from extruded aluminum, with die-cast aluminum end caps and joiners, ensuring durability and clean design. A uniform frosted acrylic lens helps deliver smooth, diffuse light that mimics the quality of daylight.
Designed for high performance and long-term reliability, the fixture includes an integral dimmable LED mini-driver—one of the smallest of its kind—simplifying installation by removing the need for remote drivers. It supports multiple control options including DALI, Power over Ethernet (PoE), MOLEX, IGOR, SmartEngine, and other smart building protocols. Input voltage is universal (120–277V), and optional emergency battery backup or emergency circuit support is available.
Zen Square Pendant is rated for dry and damp locations and meets UL and CUL standards. The aluminum housing acts as a heat sink to maintain optimal operating temperature and maximize LED life, which is rated at 50,000 hours with 85% lumen maintenance in compliance with IES LM-80 testing. Color performance is also exceptional, with minimum CRI options of 80 or 90 and CCT selections of 3000K, 3500K, or 4000K—all with tight color consistency within a 3-step MacAdam ellipse.
The luminaire’s performance is enhanced by SurroundLite’s unique non-Lambertian 3D batwing distribution, which creates wide planes of uniform light across ceilings, corners, and walls. This improves visual comfort by reducing ceiling contrast and allows for wider luminaire spacing—reducing the number of fixtures needed in a given space while still achieving excellent coverage.
