The GALILEO EB Tunnel series represents a versatile range of LED floodlights specifically developed for tunnel and underpass applications. Available in three configurations—GALILEO 1, GALILEO 2, and GALILEO 3—this range is tailored to enhance road safety, improve visual comfort, and reduce operational costs through energy efficiency and low-maintenance design. Each model is engineered to maintain optimal lighting conditions in demanding environments where visibility, durability, and reliability are critical for drivers’ safety and comfort.

The GALILEO EB Tunnel series provides lighting solutions that address the unique visual challenges of tunnels and underpasses, where drivers transition rapidly between bright external conditions and darker enclosed spaces. By ensuring balanced luminance and eliminating glare, the fixtures promote smoother visual adaptation, reduce eye strain, and enhance perception of the road environment. The series includes two primary optical configurations: an asymmetric optic (ASC) with adjustable light emission for tunnel reinforcement lighting, and a symmetric optic (SS) with adjustable distribution for permanent tunnel illumination. Both configurations are available with a standard color temperature of 5700K and an optional 4000K version, achieving a color rendering index (CRI) of 70 or higher.

Each model in the GALILEO EB Tunnel family guarantees consistent performance through a high-efficiency LED source rated at 168 lm/W (at 525mA, Tj=85°C, 5700K) and meets the highest photobiological safety standard, classified under the Exempt Group. All luminaires are protected by an IP66 and IK08 rating, ensuring resistance to dust, water, and mechanical impact, while their insulation is certified for Class I or Class II operation. The fixtures perform reliably in extreme temperature ranges, from -40°C up to +50°C at standard drive current, making them suitable for diverse tunnel environments and climates.

The GALILEO 1 model incorporates an integrated gear tray and an adjustable mounting flange that simplifies installation and alignment. The GALILEO 2 and GALILEO 3 versions build upon this foundation with additional flexibility—offering integrated or separate gear boxes equipped with IP66/68 quick-release connectors for fast maintenance and replacement. All models include a removable LED module and optical unit, ensuring long-term serviceability and reduced downtime. Power connection is handled through pre-installed FG7-OM1 cables, with optional FTG10-OM1 cables or IEC309 2P+T 16A IP67 plugs for added installation flexibility.

Electrical and protection systems are designed for safety and reliability. The luminaires operate within a rated voltage of 220–240V at 50/60Hz, maintaining a power factor greater than 0.9 under full load. Built-in surge protection withstands up to 10kV, with optional SPD units rated at 10kV–10kA (type II), equipped with LED indicators and thermal fuses that disconnect the load at the end of life. Control options include fixed output (F), Dual Power (DB) with a control wire, DALI interface for digital dimming, and FLC constant light flux control to ensure consistent illumination levels throughout the product’s lifetime.

Material quality and construction integrity are hallmarks of the GALILEO EB Tunnel series. The luminaire body and heat sink are crafted from low-copper die-cast aluminum (UNI EN1706) with a durable powder-coated finish to resist corrosion. Optical components are made from high-purity aluminum (99.85%) with a 99.95% reflective surface achieved through vacuum-sealed deposition, ensuring optimal light distribution and efficiency. The optical assembly is enclosed by a flat 5mm tempered glass cover with high transparency, protected by durable polyurethane gaskets and a metallic IP68-rated M20x1.5 cable gland. Stainless steel AISI 304 mounting components, with optional AISI 316L versions, include non-conductive spacers to prevent galvanic corrosion and ensure long-term structural stability.

Together, the GALILEO 1, 2, and 3 Tunnel EB models form a complete lighting system tailored for the rigorous demands of modern tunnel infrastructure. By combining robust mechanical design, exceptional optical efficiency, and flexible control options, the series ensures safe, uniform, and visually comfortable lighting for tunnels and underpasses—contributing to safer driving conditions and reduced maintenance costs for infrastructure operators.
