The Simris Table lamp has an interesting history dating back to 1970 after a lighting exhibition in Copenhagen. Ateljé Lyktan’s CEO, Anders Pehrson, was approached by the Munich Olympic organizers to propose a lighting solution for the 1972 Olympic Games. The Simris luminaire concept was developed specifically for floor and desk lamps. Following months of negotiations, meetings in Germany, and revised proposals, Ateljé Lyktan was selected as one of three suppliers out of hundreds of European lighting companies.
Today, Simris is being re-launched with two different floor models and two table models, available in classic black or white finishes. The base features leather-covered steel, giving it a timeless yet modern aesthetic. While the design remains true to the original, the lamp is updated with contemporary LED technology and includes a dimmer controlled via a sensor plate on top of the luminaire housing. A distinctive red textile cable adds a vibrant accent to the sleek design.
One of Simris’s signature features is the innovative “cross joint,” which allows for adjustable regulation of the luminaire’s height and length. Light control is conveniently managed through the TouchDim sensor surface located on the lamp housing, enabling both dimming and on/off functions with intuitive ease.
The lamp housing is crafted from aluminum, complemented by a stand made of chromed steel and a foot plate covered in leather. The glare shield is produced from injection-molded acrylic (PC), ensuring effective light diffusion. The lamp connects via a 2-meter halogen-free feed cable with a plug-in driver that easily connects to any outlet.
Simris incorporates a high-quality Samsung LED light source with a color temperature of 3000K, a color rendering index (CRI) of 80, and a chromaticity tolerance of 5 SDCM. It boasts a rated lifetime of L70 50,000 hours, making it suitable for long-term use. The product carries an energy efficiency class F rating in accordance with EU regulation 2019/2015.
Available in White RAL 9016 with a natural-colored leather foot or Black RAL 9017 with a black leather foot, Simris features lacquered details with a gloss number of 30. The lamp’s light control retains the set value even after power failures, ensuring a consistent user experience.
