LED Heliport Touchdown and Lift-Off Area (TLOF) Floodlight for Shipboard and Rooftop Helipads

The heliport floodlight is a vital ground-level illumination device designed to provide consistent, glare-reducing lighting across the surface of heliports. Its primary function is to ensure that heliport surface illumination meets or exceeds a minimum of 10 Lux, enabling pilots to clearly identify helipad markings and land safely, even in low-visibility conditions. Uniform lighting across the entire helipad reduces short-distance glare, aiding pilot visibility during approach and landing. The floodlight operates via a dedicated control switch within the heliport control cabinet, allowing seamless integration with other heliport lighting systems.

One of the standout features of this floodlight is its robust construction. The lamp cover is made of tempered glass, chosen for its superior impact resistance, high thermal stability (withstanding temperatures up to 500°C), and excellent transparency—achieving up to 97% light transmission. It is also UV-resistant and engineered to withstand aging, making it ideal for long-term outdoor installations. The housing is crafted from cast aluminum with a specially applied coating, giving the unit strong waterproofing, corrosion resistance, and shock protection, even in the harshest environments.

The floodlight uses either advanced LED technology or an Osram metal halide light source. The LED option provides a steady white beam with a color temperature of 6000K and offers significant energy savings with only 15W of power consumption, while still producing over 1,500 lumens. The metal halide version consumes 70W but delivers a powerful 8,000 lumens or more, making it suitable for higher-intensity lighting needs. Both versions are fixed (non-flashing) lights and are hardwired to operate on either 220V AC or 48V DC, with support for parallel wiring in multi-light configurations. Each unit also includes built-in surge protection to ensure stable performance in high-risk environments.

Designed to be mounted on flat surfaces, the HP FL-60 helipad floodlight features a condenser lens that enables precise beam control and a lens hood to reduce the risk of dazzling pilots during approach. The toughened glass and cast aluminum body provide structural strength and resistance to environmental stressors. The unit measures 290 x 228 x 210 mm, weighs 4.6 kg, and is protected to IP65 standards, offering full resistance to dust and water ingress. It operates reliably across a wide temperature range from -55°C to +55°C, can withstand humidity levels of up to 98%, and is built for high-altitude applications up to 4,500 meters and wind speeds of up to 80 m/s.

Fully compliant with ICAO Annex 14, Volume II regulations for heliports and certified under ISO 9001:2008 standards, this heliport floodlight is suitable for various applications, including surface-level helipads, elevated rooftop pads, and shipboard helidecks. With its rugged durability, high-efficiency illumination, and weatherproof performance, the HP FL-60 ensures a safe and visible heliport environment under all operating conditions.
