In its catenary-mounted configuration, Gunnar provides lighting designers with a flexible and space-conscious approach to outdoor illumination. Suspending luminaires on cables rather than poles frees up pedestrian zones and allows for precise, targeted lighting across open spaces. The fixture is available in both symmetric and asymmetric light distributions, with optional diffuser screens to control the quality and intensity of light. The Gunnar catenary light features a durable extruded aluminum housing with a tempered glass diffuser and threaded weatherproof cord grip. The body is sealed with polymer gaskets and secured with stainless steel screws, providing a robust construction for demanding outdoor conditions. It operates on 120V to 277V at 50/60 Hz through an integrated electronic driver with 0-10V dimming capability, and performs reliably in temperatures as low as -40°C. Each unit ships prewired and fully assembled for ease of installation, and an optional ANSI C136.41 twist-lock receptacle is available.
For catenary applications, Gunnar includes a cast aluminum support cable bracket. It is designed with a loop-in/loop-out cord grip system, allowing multiple fixtures to be mounted on the same cable span. When used as a single luminaire per span, a waterproof grommet is provided for the unused cord grip opening. While the bracket itself weighs only 0.5 pounds and has an EPA of 0.03 ft², it is essential to note that the support and electrical cables must be sourced separately. The luminaire accommodates electrical cable sizes ranging from 7 to 10.5 mm and support cables from 4 to 6 mm.
