The Tall Lite Bollard was inspired by the original Tall bollard, created by brothers Jan and Hans Forsmark for the globally acclaimed Treehotel architectural project in Norrbotten. Following the success of the original design, increasing requests and demands led the Forsmark brothers to expand the concept into a small family of luminaires, which now includes façade and wall lights alongside a variant of the existing bollard. For this development, aluminium was chosen as the primary material, allowing for greater flexibility in colour customization while maintaining a durable and recyclable construction.
Tall Lite retains the artistic idiom and high-quality light characteristics of the original Tall bollard but is now crafted from cast aluminium, a fully recyclable material that supports powder coating in various colours. The design features a cruciform base topped by three LED light cells, each deflected downwards by a cuboid-shaped cap. One larger LED cell is positioned at the front beneath the top of the luminaire, while two smaller LEDs sit at the back. This configuration enables the bollard to cast light in a full 360-degree pattern, with a slightly stronger beam directed in one way. This design allows Tall Lite to illuminate pathways effectively while also lighting its surrounding environment, making it ideal for guiding pedestrian routes.
The luminaire housing is made of cast aluminium, while the body is constructed from extruded aluminium. Installation involves fastening the bollard using four M12 bolts onto a solid base or optional accessories designed for 108 foundations or in-situ casting, which are ordered separately. The connection system accommodates cables up to 13 mm in diameter, with an internal terminal block and strain relief to ensure secure wiring. Through wiring is also possible, providing flexibility during installation.
Tall Lite is fitted with an LED light source available in a standard colour temperature of 3000K, with 4000K available on request. It features a high colour rendering index of CRI 90, ensuring excellent light quality and a long lifespan rated at L80 B50 100,000 hours. The light source holds an energy efficiency classification of Class E for the 830/840 CRI and colour temperature options. The luminaire uses a UV-protected clear polycarbonate diffuser, delivering asymmetric light distribution that effectively illuminates both pathways and surrounding areas.
Designed to withstand outdoor conditions, the Tall Lite bollard meets IK07 impact resistance standards. It weighs 5.5 kg for the 600mm height version and 8.3 kg for the 1000mm version. Standard paint finishes are suitable for corrosivity category C3 environments, making it appropriate for urban and industrial atmospheres with moderate sulfur dioxide pollution or coastal areas with some exposure. For harsher environments with high sulfur dioxide pollution, a special treatment is available upon request to enhance corrosion resistance, ensuring durability in more demanding outdoor settings.
