The Crouse-Hinds L-864 LED medium intensity beacon is specifically designed for FAA Type A lighting configurations, combining both red and infrared LEDs within a single unit to enhance visibility for aircraft pilots. This dual-spectrum approach ensures reliable identification of military bases, airfield perimeters, buildings, towers, and other obstructions during normal flight operations as well as when aided by advanced night vision systems such as Aviator’s Night Vision Imaging Systems (ANVIS) and night vision goggles (NVGs). The infrared component, operating at an 850 nm wavelength, significantly improves visibility under low-light and night conditions, supporting pilot safety around critical airfield infrastructure.

It offers 360-degree coverage with both flashing and steady burn modes to suit operational needs.
