Crafted with a strong extruded aluminum housing (0.080" nominal), this system features precision-engineered die-cast aluminum end caps, die-formed steel interior brackets, white powder-coated sheet steel reflectors, and extruded acrylic lenses. Each component, including the injection-molded lenses and die-cast aluminum hangers, has been meticulously selected to ensure both durability and aesthetics. A sliding aircraft cable suspension system and quick-connect cable grips streamline the installation process while maintaining a sleek, minimalist profile.
This luminaire is compatible with an extensive range of control technologies. Standard driver options include Lutron’s Hi-lume 1% EcoSystem with Soft-on, Fade-to-Black, as well as DALI, DMX, and Xitanium SR for wireless sensor integration. BIOS lighting technology is available through DPB drivers offering both static (STC) and dynamic (DYN) spectrum control. With BIOS SkyBlue® Bio-Dimming™, dynamic spectral tuning is achieved by gradually removing the blue spectrum between 100% and 50%, then dimming light output from 49% to 1%. Tunable white drivers are also supported, including DALI Type 6, Type 8, and dual-channel 0-10V configurations. Power over Ethernet options are offered through platforms like MOLEX, IGOR, and SMARTENGINE, and UL2108 certification ensures compliance for integral or remote driver installations. Emergency lighting is available via an integral battery pack or circuit. The system supports multiple voltage inputs, including 120V, 277V, 347V, UNV, and DC.
Sculpt SoftZone offers exceptional lighting quality with a minimum CRI of 80 or 90, and a BIOS-specific CRI of 80+ with R9 values exceeding 75 across all CCTs. Color temperatures are offered at 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K, with tight color consistency within a 3-step MacAdam ellipse both within and between fixtures. BIOS Static (STC) and BIOS SkyBlue® Dynamic (DYN) options are also available, allowing further customization of CCT behavior. Additionally, Axitune® systems provide refined control over spectral content. Designed for long-term performance, LEDs have a rated life of at least 50,000 hours with 85% lumen maintenance at 25°C, tested to IES LM-80 standards. The aluminum housing acts as an efficient heat sink to optimize thermal management. The system is dry and damp location rated for indoor use within ambient operating temperatures of 0–40°C (32–104°F).
With a continuous connection system capable of nearly invisible joins, Sculpt SoftZone accommodates 4’ and 8’ standard lengths, while extended runs are constructed from modular segments assembled on-site using Axis’s proprietary joinery. These precision-engineered connectors ensure long, uninterrupted runs with consistent performance and aesthetics.
Shielding options for Sculpt SoftZone include flush and StepLens alternatives with frosted acrylic for a spotless appearance. MikroLite technology is also available, delivering focused illumination through high-density polycarbonate shielding and formed aluminum optics. This system enables a full range of light distributions—including direct, indirect, and direct/indirect—allowing designers to tailor the lighting effect to each space. Blanks can be specified to create unlit acoustic SoftZone panels, further expanding design versatility.
Beyond lighting, Sculpt SoftZone integrates vertical acoustic performance using suspended sound-absorbing panels. This modular pendant lighting system enables users to configure acoustic performance by varying panel quantities. Each panel is made from 100% polyester, with at least 40% recycled PET plastic content. The material is moisture resistant, Class A fire-rated, and capable of delivering a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of up to 1.05 per unit. Available in 15 standard colors—with custom finishes on request—SoftZone panels can also be ordered as non-illuminated units to enhance acoustic comfort independently of lighting needs.
The system supports panel lengths ranging from 2’ to 8’, with available heights of 8” and 12”. It is designed exclusively for linear lighting applications; geometric lighting forms are not supported in the Sculpt SoftZone variant. Segment finishes include standard black, white, and aluminum paint, with custom options available. Lighting controls, including Axitune® and other smart integration platforms, offer enhanced customization and energy efficiency.
