Since pioneering the first-ever loading dock light over fifty years ago, Phoenix has maintained its position as a trusted industry leader in dock lighting solutions. The company offers a versatile range of industry-leading loading dock arms that are designed to work seamlessly with two types of dock light heads: the modular plastic Docklite® head and the metal DLA2 head. Both options are engineered for durability, stability, and user-friendly operation, ensuring reliable performance in demanding loading dock environments.
The modular dock light arms come in two standard lengths, 40 inches and 60 inches, to accommodate the varying needs of new construction projects or refurbishment efforts. These arms are constructed from 1.60-inch square steel tubing and feature a double strut design that provides the strength necessary to support any combination of lights, fans, or other accessories. The arms incorporate lateral mobility joints, washers at all joints, and bushings at bracket joints to facilitate smooth movement and reduce wear. Finished in a safety yellow powder coat, the arms include zinc-plated hardware and are mounted with a powder-coated steel bracket for secure installation.
The modular plastic Docklite® head is built to endure the toughest conditions typically found on loading docks. It features a high-temperature polymer housing and a zinc-plated steel wire lamp guard for impact protection, while the hardware is zinc plated for corrosion resistance. Designed to accommodate a 15W PAR 38 LED lamp, the Docklite® head includes a spring-loaded socket assembly to absorb accidental impacts from forklifts or dock doors, making it particularly suited for harsh dock environments. The head is powered by a 120V, 60Hz source and is wired with a 22-inch cord that terminates in a recessed three-prong IEC (C-14) type plug. Its ambient operating temperature range spans from -40°C to +25°C. The Docklite® head is ETL and cETL certified to UL 1598 standards for damp locations, and CSA C22.2 No. 250.0 equivalency ensures broad compliance. This plastic head carries a three-year warranty.
In addition to the plastic head option, Phoenix offers the metal DLA2 LED head, which features a robust cast aluminum housing and an impact-resistant clear polycarbonate lens. Its stainless steel hardware provides enhanced corrosion resistance, and the light source is a 9W LED producing 1,100 lumens with a 25° square beam angle for focused illumination. The DLA2 head operates on a 120V, 60Hz power source and includes a 22-inch cord with a recessed three-prong IEC (C-14) plug. It supports an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +50°C and is backed by a lifetime warranty, reflecting its rugged construction and long service life.
Both dock light heads can be paired with the 40- or 60-inch double strut arms, which feature an integrated on-off switch and two IEC-type receptacles, allowing users to plug in and support the weight of the dock light heads and optional fans. The arms come with a 72-inch cord and a NEMA 5-15 plug for easy connection to power sources. The wiring and mounting hardware are designed for reliability and ease of use, ensuring safe operation in damp or demanding environments.
Phoenix’s loading dock lighting solutions are ETL and cETL certified to UL 1598 standards for suitability in damp locations and meet CSA C22.2 No. 250.0 equivalents, offering assurance of quality and compliance. The modular design, combined with robust construction and safety features, provides loading dock operators with reliable, long-lasting lighting options tailored to their operational needs. Whether for new installations or upgrades, Phoenix’s dock light arms and heads deliver durability, stability, and ease of operation in one comprehensive system.
