Tesis has long been a cornerstone of the ERCO outdoor lighting portfolio, and through intensive development, it has now reached a new level of performance. Renowned for its precision, brilliance, and energy efficiency, the updated Tesis series introduces cutting-edge lighting technology in a durable and corrosion-resistant polymer housing. Whether used as directional spotlights with interchangeable or zoom lenses, uplights, or wallwashers, Tesis sets new standards in architectural outdoor lighting. Its robust build, ease of installation, and versatility make it ideal for a wide range of applications.
Each component of the Tesis luminaire is engineered for high performance and adaptability. The optical system includes ERCO’s signature Spherolit lenses made from optical polymer, offering a range of light distributions such as narrow spot, spot, flood, wide flood, and oval wide flood. Zoom lenses are also available for adjustable beam spreads, including zoom spot and zoom oval types with infinitely variable focus. Lens wallwashers and wallwasher reflectors—made of optical polymer and aluminium with a vaporised silver coating—ensure superior vertical illumination. The LED modules employ high-power LEDs in warm white (3000K) or neutral white (4000K), and directional spotlights feature collimating lenses for controlled beam shaping. The luminaires are tilt-adjustable from 0° to 30°, allowing precise alignment.
Tesis fixtures are built with user-friendly and robust structural elements. The housing, constructed from black polymer, features a longitudinally watertight connection cable, with installation options that include surface mounting without an installation sleeve or recessed mounting using a flush protective glass variant. The flush-mounted versions are even capable of withstanding vehicular traffic, supporting loads up to 20kN or 50kN depending on the model. Covered or semi-recessed mounting details are available, featuring stainless steel or coated polymer cover rings and clear or anti-slip safety glass. Control is handled via DALI dimmable gear, with an IP68 protection rating ensuring resistance to dust ingress and continuous water immersion up to 3 meters deep. Special versions offer a variety of color temperatures (2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K) and color rendering indexes (CRI 92 or 97), with optional anti-slip safety glass and V4A-grade stainless steel cover rings for enhanced durability.
ERCO has placed particular emphasis on visual comfort in the Tesis range, optimizing housing design and optical components to meet the demands of visually sensitive applications. The result is exceptional glare control and comfort in architectural environments. The luminaires also deliver outstanding uniformity, particularly in vertical illuminance. Tesis wallwashers are engineered to achieve high levels of uniformity on vertical surfaces. Lens wallwashers are best suited for flush floor mounting, with the ideal wall distance (a) being one third the height of the room (h), or a = 1/3 × h. To maintain linear uniformity, the spacing (d) between wallwashers can extend up to 1.3 times the distance to the wall, or d ≤ 1.3 × a.
For semi-recessed wallwashers, installation closer to the wall is possible, requiring only one sixth of the room height as distance, or a = 1/6 × h. The spacing between fixtures can be extended up to six times the wall distance for good longitudinal uniformity, or d ≤ 6 × a. These configurations allow lighting designers to achieve smooth, consistent illumination with minimal fixture count and maximum aesthetic integration.
Tesis uplights are ideal for accentuating objects like treetops or cantilever roofs, where precision and controlled light output are critical to minimize stray light and avoid contributing to light pollution. Based on practical experience, the optimal tilt angle (y) for such applications is 25°, which provides clear object modeling without harsh grazing effects. When using zoom directional luminaires, which allow continuous adjustment from spot to wide flood, an angle of 30° offers effective emphasis of smaller objects. Oval zoom variants are tailored for linear objects, providing balanced modeling while minimizing shadowing—especially shadows cast by observers—ensuring a seamless visual experience.
