High Dependency Linear Recessed LED Luminaire for Intensive Care Ward Lighting

The High Dependency Linear luminaire is a recessed lighting solution specifically designed for high dependency and intensive care hospital wards. Its construction features a sturdy steel body complemented by an aluminium frame, ensuring durability and suitability for demanding clinical environments. The luminaire’s design incorporates an asymmetrical light distribution that directs illumination precisely towards the patient’s bed, enhancing visibility where it is most needed while minimizing glare and disturbance.

To achieve ultra-low glare performance, the High Dependency Linear uses a V-blade louvre positioned behind a clear polycarbonate cover. This combination provides controlled lighting with reduced visual discomfort, essential in sensitive medical settings. The fixture is equipped with a snap-fix, screw-less frame, facilitating easy installation and maintenance. It is supplied with a side arm suspension kit and is designed to fit standard 24mm exposed T-bar ceilings, although other ceiling type options can be specially ordered to accommodate different installation requirements. Additionally, ColourControl versions of this luminaire are available upon special request, allowing for customizable lighting solutions tailored to specific clinical needs.

Measuring 1200 x 150 mm, the luminaire has an IP54 rating for protection against dust and water ingress, with an IP20 rating above the ceiling. It produces a lumen output of 3,735 lm with an efficacy of 86.9 lumens per circuit watt (LL/CW). The lighting power is 38 W for the LEDs, with a total circuit power consumption of 43 W. The luminaire’s LED light source emits a neutral white light at 4000 K color temperature and maintains a color rendering index (CRI) of 80+, ensuring accurate color perception in clinical environments.

For emergency lighting needs, the High Dependency Linear offers a backup duration of 3 hours, powered by a Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery. The product is rated for a long lifespan with 70,000 hours to L70/B10, ensuring reliable performance and reduced maintenance frequency. The luminaire complies with UKCA and CE certifications, guaranteeing adherence to safety and performance standards. It contains a light source of energy efficiency class B and features materials rated TP(a) for thermoplastic safety, making it a robust, energy-efficient choice for critical care hospital lighting.
