Hazardous Location LED Emergency Egress Light for Class I Zone 2 and Class II Division 2 Installations

The Crouse-Hinds series Light-Pak N2LPS M2 LED Emergency Lighting System is purpose-built to ensure safe egress illumination in Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations when normal lighting fails or is interrupted. Designed for maximum reliability, this emergency lighting system is ideal for use in industrial and marine settings, including petrochemical plants, refineries, food processing facilities, sewage and waste treatment facilities, breweries, oil terminals, and other demanding environments. Its rugged construction and high-performance LED technology make it a trusted solution for critical applications where safety and durability are paramount.

The N2LPS M2 LED system features highly durable, marine-rated LED lamp head assemblies that are resistant to water ingress, corrosion, and impact. These lamp heads can be mounted remotely from the main enclosure, offering flexible placement and focused illumination exactly where it’s needed. The system operates reliably in extreme ambient temperatures ranging from -20°C to 55°C, and its non-metallic, enclosed, and gasketed housing ensures corrosion resistance even in the harshest conditions.

Certified for use in Class I, Division 2, Groups B, C, D and Class I, Zone 2 hazardous locations, the N2LPS M2 is also rated for Class II, Division 2, Groups F and G (N2LPS only), and carries NEMA 4 and 4X ratings for wet and marine environments. It complies with stringent industry standards including UL1598A for marine luminaires, UL924 for emergency lighting and power equipment, UL844 for hazardous location luminaires, and NFPA 101 Life Safety Code – Section 5-9 governing emergency lighting. Canadian standards CSA C22.2 No. 141-M1985 and No. 137-M1981 are also met.

The system includes a high-temperature-rated nickel cadmium battery that ensures reliable emergency operation even in elevated temperatures up to 55°C. A solid-state battery charger with automatic battery disconnection prevents deep discharge and maximizes battery life. For maintenance efficiency, the N2LPS M2 offers self-testing, monitoring, and diagnostics, reducing labor and downtime associated with routine checks.

Constructed from Krydon fiberglass-reinforced polyester for the enclosure, the LED lamp heads are made from epoxy powder-coated aluminum. Exterior hardware is crafted from corrosion-resistant materials such as nylon, plastic-coated metals, and stainless steel, while the cover gasket is made from durable Hypalon synthetic rubber, ensuring a watertight seal and long service life. This rugged and adaptable system delivers peace of mind and safe egress lighting across a wide range of hazardous and industrial environments.
