Multiple lens options support a range of aesthetic effects. Clear flat and translucent dome lenses are standard, while custom narrow beam lenses are available. Optional marquee lenses—available in clear, semi-frosted, and translucent finishes—snap onto flat-lens nodes to mimic the appearance of traditional theater marquee bulbs. These can be mounted directly onto strands or positioned in front of a substrate for additional design flexibility.
Installation is simple and adaptable. Flex Compact gen3, RGB strands can be mounted directly to surfaces like traditional string lights. Detachable leader cables—available in standard lengths of 7.6 m (25 ft), 15.2 m (50 ft), and 30.5 m (100 ft), as well as custom options—allow for proper spacing from power and data supplies. Optional mounting tracks ensure straight, clean lines, while snap-on spacers conceal cables and hardware between nodes for a refined, finished appearance. For complex geometries or uneven spacing, single node mounts can be used as anchor points. Optional glare shields are also available to manage spill light or hide visible light sources in sensitive applications.
Flex Compact gen3, RGB is built for long-lasting outdoor performance. Rated IP66 for water and dust protection, it is fully sealed for maximum durability in exterior environments. For even harsher conditions—such as coastal areas or locations with high humidity, dust, or temperature fluctuations—the Flex Harsh Environment (HE) variant is available. Flex HE luminaires feature overmolded nodes, terminators, and connectors sealed in UV-resistant thermoplastic, compliant with the ASTM B117 corrosion resistance standard for over 3,000 hours. These are not field-trimmable but offer unmatched durability in the most extreme settings.
The system integrates seamlessly with Color Kinetics' full range of control options, including Light System Manager, Video System Manager Pro, iPlayer 3, Antumbra iColor Keypad, and ColorDial Pro.
