Dialight’s Vigilant® LED High Intensity Strobe is a groundbreaking innovation—the first all-LED FAA-certified high-intensity lighting system engineered specifically for tall structures such as broadcast towers, chimneys, smoke stacks, and other aerial obstructions. Designed to meet the rigorous requirements of FAA tower types B, C, F, and G, this dual red/white strobe system delivers robust, energy-efficient performance while offering exceptional reliability in harsh outdoor environments. With three flash heads per level providing full 360° coverage, it offers maximum visibility and safety compliance for both daytime and nighttime aviation warning lighting.
Each Vigilant® flash head is capable of operating in both white and red modes, eliminating the need for multiple fixture types and simplifying installation. The system’s effective intensity reaches 270,000 candela (FAA) and 200,000 candela (ICAO) during daytime white mode, with reduced outputs of 20,000 cd during twilight and 2,000 cd at night, whether in white or red mode. The lighting system is ETL verified to comply with FAA L-856/L-864, ICAO Type A, Transport Canada CAR 621, and DGAC Mexico standards. Rated IP66 for harsh weather resistance, the Vigilant® system also withstands extreme temperatures ranging from -40°F to +131°F (-40°C to +55°C), and it features a power factor greater than 0.9 with an input voltage range of 208-277V AC (50/60Hz). Power consumption is optimized across modes, with 220W in white day mode, 40W at twilight, and just 30W for both white and red night modes.
Durability is central to the Vigilant® design. Flash heads weigh approximately 70.54 lbs (32 kg), while the power supply and controller units weigh 39.68 lbs (18 kg) and 38.50 lbs (17.46 kg), respectively. The system's patented optics minimize downlight and ground scatter, while integrated surge protection, shock resistance, and vibration tolerance ensure long-term reliability. Each controller can support up to 18 synchronized flash heads, enabling scalable installations for tall, multi-tiered structures. Lighting and hardware kits are available for standard tower configurations, with optional padlock provisions on NEMA 4X-rated enclosures for added security.
For enhanced functionality, the Vigilant® system now integrates infrared (IR) LEDs with an 850 nm peak wavelength, providing night vision compatibility. Additional control features include dry contact alarms for real-time system monitoring—covering operational status (day/night), photocell performance, synchronization, white/red mode operation, communication faults, and power failures. A built-in photocell allows the system to automatically switch between day and night modes.
To support remote operation and diagnostics, Dialight offers the INEM® Obstruction Lighting Remote Control and Monitoring System. This powerful software platform enables lighting system configuration, control, and monitoring via a user-friendly web interface and graphical user interface (GUI). The INEM® system supports ethernet, cellular, and local Wi-Fi connectivity, offering flexible deployment across new or retrofit applications. Compatible with red low/medium intensity (L-810/L-864), dual red/white medium intensity (L-864/L-865), and high intensity (L-864/L-856) systems, INEM® facilitates remote inspections, software updates, alarm and event logging, data reporting, and integration with Network Operations Center (NOC) software via SNMP traps. Provisions for battery backup connectivity with low voltage disconnect further ensure uninterrupted operation during power outages.
With its robust design, superior optical performance, and advanced remote management capabilities, the Dialight Vigilant® LED High Intensity Strobe sets the industry standard for high-performance obstruction lighting on tall structures.
