FAA and ICAO Annex 14 Certified Solar Aircraft Warning Light with Automatic Day/Night Control

The WLS-25 Solar Powered Aircraft Warning Light is a highly efficient, low-intensity aviation obstruction lighting solution designed for off-grid and remote installations. It is engineered specifically for locations lacking access to electrical infrastructure, delivering steady burning visibility that meets the strict requirements of both ICAO Annex 14 and FAA obstruction lighting regulations. Built with reliability and sustainability in mind, the WLS-25 combines advanced solar technology with durable materials and automatic functionality to ensure continued operation in the harshest environments.

Constructed from die-cast aluminum LM6 with a powder-coated finish, the WLS-25 offers exceptional protection against corrosion, water ingress, shock, and UV degradation. Its lightweight yet rugged housing, paired with a high-impact polycarbonate lens, ensures long-lasting performance even under demanding conditions such as high humidity, high winds, and wide-ranging temperatures. The unit achieves IP65 protection and holds a UL94V-0 combustibility rating for additional safety assurance.

One of the standout features of the WLS-25 is its modular and self-sufficient solar power system. It incorporates a high-efficiency silicon solar panel, a built-in NiMH rechargeable battery (3.6V/8Ah), and a multipoint control unit (MCU). The MCU enables intelligent circuit protection, fault detection, power management, and system monitoring. It also facilitates a duty and standby configuration—should the primary lamp fail, the standby lamp automatically activates to maintain visibility.

Thanks to its built-in photocell, the WLS-25 provides automatic dusk-to-dawn operation with an activation threshold of 500 Lux. The system can function continuously for over seven days without sunlight, making it suitable for regions with prolonged overcast conditions. Battery autonomy may vary with ambient temperature, particularly below 0°C or above 40°C, though the system includes automatic battery protection features that limit energy draw after 18 hours of darkness to preserve battery life.

The solar panel is mounted on a durable stamped steel bracket designed to withstand wind speeds up to 100 km/h. The adjustable tilt angle ranges from 15° to 60° to optimize solar capture based on geographic location. The design also includes bird spikes and a safety steel wire tether between the housing and base to prevent accidental drops during maintenance.

Performance-wise, the WLS-25 emits a red aviation light in a 360° horizontal spread and 10° vertical beam. With a luminous intensity between 10 to 32.5 candela (user-specified), it delivers visibility exceeding 3.6 km at a transmissivity factor (T) of 0.85. Users may choose between steady-burning or flashing operation when placing their order, depending on regulatory or site-specific needs.

With no RF emissions and full electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), the WLS-25 is ideal for sensitive installations such as power plants, transmission towers, telecom masts, chimneys, flares, offshore rigs, and remote airfields. Its shockproof, corrosion-resistant, and vibration-resistant design minimizes maintenance requirements and operating costs over a lifetime that far exceeds traditional obstruction lighting solutions.
