The Light-Pak™ ELPSM2 Explosionproof LED Emergency Lighting System from the Crouse-Hinds series is purpose-built to deliver safe and dependable emergency illumination in hazardous indoor or outdoor environments where the risk of explosive gases, vapors, dust, or other harsh conditions is present. This system is designed to maintain essential lighting during power failures, ensuring safety in egress paths, around critical equipment, or within designated emergency zones. It is particularly well-suited for use in industries such as petrochemical, chemical processing, grain storage and handling, refineries, wastewater treatment, food processing, and other rugged or corrosive industrial applications where ordinary lighting systems would not survive.

The ELPSM2 operates safely in Class I, Division 1, Groups B, C, D and Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F, G hazardous locations, ensuring its effectiveness in areas with flammable gases, combustible dust, and volatile materials. It is rated NEMA 3R for wet and outdoor locations and complies with critical UL and CSA standards, including UL844, UL924, UL1203, and CSA C22.2 No. 141-10. Additionally, the system meets the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code for emergency lighting requirements.

Engineered with durability and performance in mind, the ELPSM2 features a copper-free aluminum housing that is both epoxy powder coated and fully gasketed, offering exceptional corrosion resistance and a rugged enclosure ideal for extreme environmental conditions. The LED lamp head assemblies are also housed in robust aluminum casings, designed to withstand impact, moisture intrusion, and aggressive chemicals. These lamp heads can be remotely mounted, giving flexibility to direct illumination where it is most critically needed, separate from the central power and control unit.

For consistent emergency operation, the system includes a high-temperature-rated nickel-cadmium battery, capable of functioning reliably in ambient temperatures up to +40°C. The built-in solid-state battery charger maintains optimal battery life, while safeguarding against deep discharge by automatically disconnecting the battery when necessary. Integrated self-testing, diagnostics, and monitoring features help reduce ongoing maintenance costs and ensure system readiness without the need for frequent manual inspection.

The Light-Pak ELPSM2 is constructed using high-grade materials including epoxy-coated aluminum for both the power supply enclosure and the lamp head housings, stainless steel exterior hardware, and a neoprene gasket seal, all of which contribute to its long-lasting performance and resistance to wear in industrial environments.
