The 1531LED Omega™ luminaire is a large-scale decorative downlight designed for streetscape, roadway, and area lighting applications where both style and efficiency are essential. Its signature form features a spun aluminum bell-shaped dome that gives the fixture a distinctive architectural character while housing state-of-the-art LED technology. A gasketed hinged door allows tool-less access to the driver and LED chamber, streamlining both installation and maintenance. Offered in multiple wattages, color temperatures, mounting styles, and distribution types, the luminaire is adaptable for a wide range of urban, municipal, and commercial lighting projects. With its blend of timeless design and advanced engineering, the Omega™ is positioned as a premier solution for large-area illumination.
The housing of the fixture is crafted from precision cast aluminum for strength and long-lasting integrity. Multiple mounting configurations are available to suit site requirements. Standard options include the HSHx horizontal hang-straight, which incorporates an aluminum ball-and-swivel design, available with spike, ball, or no finial styles. The HSCx clamp-style hang-straight provides a large-scale cast aluminum design with step-leveling capability, accommodating an 8-inch long tenon. The EZ stainless steel vertical hang-straight, with its two-part factory-installed system, allows for simplified installation beneath an arm or directly on the luminaire. For additional flexibility, a side-mount configuration is offered, featuring cast aluminum construction and stainless steel hardware to fit a 4-inch long tenon. A catenary mounting option further expands application versatility, enabling installation on aircraft cables ranging from 1/4" to 5/8" in diameter with an integrated span clamp and decorative wire box.
The optical system is engineered for precise and controlled illumination. Each LED is paired with refractor-type optics to provide accurate light distributions in Type II, III, IV, or V patterns according to IESNA classifications. The LEDs are fully shielded in a downward position to maximize efficiency and minimize uplight, supporting NightSky® dark-sky compliance with a U0 BUG rating in specific configurations. To reduce glare and improve visual comfort, the luminaire can be specified with the optional SoftVue™ lens system. This includes acrylic lenses with varying levels of diffusion—medium, heavy, or maximum—as well as flat, sag, or frosted sag glass lens alternatives. An optional internal Fixed Dimming Resistor Board (FDRB) provides field-adjustable light output via a numbered 10-step selector, allowing levels to be tuned from 25% to 100% for site-specific requirements.
At its core, the Omega™ integrates high-brightness, high-output LEDs built on a Chip on Board (COB) assembly for thermal efficiency and reliability. The light engine is RoHS compliant, free of lead, mercury, or other hazardous materials, and is fully recyclable. Based on LM-80 testing and TM-21 projections, the luminaire achieves a predicted lifespan of up to 100,000 hours with greater than 70% of initial lumen output at 25°C. Standard configurations are offered in 3000K and 4000K CCT, with additional options of 2700K, 3500K, and 5000K available, all with a minimum 70 CRI. Custom color rendering or CCT configurations can also be specified for specialized applications.
The electronic driver is UL recognized and mounted within the fixture for protection and longevity. It is designed as a high-efficiency constant-current system operating at 50/60Hz with a high power factor (>0.9) and total harmonic distortion below 20%. Integrated protections guard against overload, overheating, and short circuits, while supplemental surge protection is built in per IEEE/ANSI C62.41.2 standards. A quick-disconnect connector simplifies power connections during installation and servicing. The driver also supports 0–10V dimming, enabling integration with advanced control systems. For energy-independent applications, the Omega™ can be configured for use with solar platforms, incorporating a 48VDC driverless board compatible with direct DC controllers.
Control options further enhance adaptability. Photocell integration includes button photocells or twist-lock photocells prewired to the driver. Depending on mounting style, photocells may be installed on the fixture housing, hang-straight, or roof. All options deliver reliable dusk-to-dawn automation with rapid response times. Wireless control compatibility is also supported in specific mounting configurations.
Engineered for outdoor resilience, the Omega™ carries an IP65 rating, protecting against dust and water intrusion, and is UL listed to UL1598 and CSA C22.2 No. 250.0 for wet-location use across North America. The fixture’s external finish is achieved through a six-stage polyester powder coat system that exceeds AAMA and ASTM performance requirements for gloss retention and weather resistance. Customers can select from three curated palettes: the Urban collection with contemporary metallic tones, the Traditional palette with smooth or textured colors, and the Sternberg Select palette with hand-applied antique topcoats for vintage-inspired aesthetics. In addition, custom colors and two-tone options are available to harmonize with unique site designs. All hardware is stainless steel, with black oxide coatings applied to dark finishes and uncoated stainless used with light finishes.
With an EPA of 1.16 ft² and a fixture weight of 50 lbs, the Omega™ balances large-scale decorative design with practical installation parameters. Backed by a seven-year limited warranty, the luminaire combines architectural styling, versatile mounting choices, advanced optical precision, and modern LED technology, making it a distinguished choice for lighting urban streets, plazas, campuses, and other public or commercial environments.
