These systems enable occupancy and ambient light sensing, wireless networking, and intuitive OneButton™ setup to optimize energy use and meet stringent energy codes. SmartCast wireless mesh operates on a 2.4GHz network with AES 128-bit encryption and supports up to 250 devices per network and 100 devices per group. The built-in sensors help maximize efficiency through features like vacancy and occupancy mode, daylight harvesting, and energy metering, all backed by a 10-year power fail memory. Luminaires grouped with wall controls function in manual-on/auto-off mode, while those without operate in full automatic occupancy mode. The sensors have a recommended maximum mounting height of 20 feet and are calibrated automatically during the OneButton™ setup process.
The ZR Series supports a variety of mounting options, including recessed, surface, or suspended installations, with compatibility across most ceiling grid types such as standard 1½", 9/16", 15/16", and hard ceilings. The durable 22-gauge cold-rolled steel housing offers a pre-painted matte finish for clean aesthetics, and the ultra-thin, lightweight form makes it ideal for tight plenum spaces. Tool-less access is enabled by a room-side removable lens that snaps into place, facilitating fast maintenance. Integrated T-bar hooks and cable slots allow easy suspended or grid mounting. QR codes are placed on the fixture housing for fast access to online installation instructions, part and serial number information, warranty verification, and claim forms. Two sizes of duplicate QR labels are included for fixture marking or remote scanning.
The luminaire's optical system uses a smooth acrylic diffuser designed to reduce pixelation and minimize glare, delivering well-balanced illumination across both horizontal surfaces and vertical planes. With multiple lens and inner optic options, the ZR Series can be tailored for different light distribution needs. Electrical performance is equally robust, supporting input voltages of 120–277V and 347V, with a power factor greater than 90% and total harmonic distortion under 20%. Input power remains consistent throughout the life of the product, and the system operates in ambient temperatures from 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F). Continuous dimming is available down to 5% or even 1% using the appropriate 0–10V control protocol, with a maximum source current of 0.45mA. Only Class 2 dimming systems with neutral connections or those designed specifically for LED fixtures are recommended.
Energy code compliance is streamlined through DLC and DLC Premium listings, as well as adherence to UL standards including UL8750 for LED drivers and components. The ZR Series is UL1598 listed, RoHS compliant, and meets FCC Part 15 Class A limits for conducted and radiated emissions. Emergency battery backup options meet CA Title 20 appliance regulations and UL924, with maximum mounting heights of up to 15 feet. These fixtures are damp-rated, designed exclusively for indoor use, and require supply conductors rated at a minimum of 90°C. Some configurations also meet BAA or BABA procurement requirements, with additional verification available through Cree Lighting.
