SmartCast Technology, in particular, offers extreme energy productivity and fast commissioning via OneButton™ Setup. The wireless mesh network uses 2.4GHz AES 128-bit encrypted communication, supporting up to 250 devices per network and 100 per group, with open-air transmission distances up to 300 feet. All SmartCast-enabled luminaires maintain a 10-year memory of power settings and must be installed on unswitched AC power to ensure proper operation.
Structurally, the FLEX Series features a durable 22-gauge cold rolled steel housing with a pre-painted matte finish, making it robust yet refined. The slim, lightweight profile is designed to accommodate tight plenum spaces and simplify installation. Room-side accessible lenses snap securely into place, allowing for tool-less maintenance and customization. The fixture supports installation in standard 1½", 9/16", and 15/16" grid ceilings, hard ceilings, or surface mounts. Built-in T-bar hooks and cable slots enable fast suspended mounting. Passive infrared (PIR) motion sensors and ambient light sensors respond to human activity and daylight levels, making them ideal for occupancy-based control and daylight harvesting. Sensors are calibrated automatically during OneButton™ setup and are designed for mounting heights up to 20 feet. When grouped with a wall control, luminaires operate in vacancy mode (manual-on/auto-off); otherwise, they operate in occupancy mode (auto-on/auto-off). Energy metering with 4% accuracy helps track usage for energy-saving initiatives and building performance metrics.
These fixtures are backed by a 10-year limited warranty covering the luminaire and SmartCast controls, with up to 5 years on accessories and a 1-year warranty on emergency battery backup systems. Emergency Backup and Generator Transfer Device options, along with Chicago Plenum (CP) configurations, are available. The FLEX Series is cULus listed under UL1598, suitable for damp locations, and meets NEMA C82.77, FCC Part 15 Class A, UL8750, and RoHS compliance standards. It also qualifies for DLC and DLC Premium certifications. Some configurations meet Buy American Act (BAA) and Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements and are assembled in the USA from domestic and imported parts.
