Designed to replace traditional linear fluorescent fixtures, the CR Series offers a power range from 16 to 38 watts and supports field-adjustable color temperatures across 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, 5000K, and tunable white options with either SmartCast or Lutron Athena wireless control systems.
Ideal for both new construction and retrofit applications, the CR Series supports recessed, surface, or suspended mounting options and is assembled in the USA using domestic and imported parts. The robust 22-gauge steel housing includes features such as T-bar clips, support wire holes, and end-to-end mounting capabilities for continuous rows of illumination. A QR code integrated into each fixture offers easy access to installation guides, product information, and warranty claims. Rated for damp locations and Chicago Plenum compliant, the CR Series also offers optional features such as emergency battery backup, generator transfer device, and power whip configurations.
The CR Series incorporates an advanced room-side heat sink that maximizes thermal management by dissipating heat away from the LEDs through a diffusing lens, significantly enhancing LED lifetime, color stability, and overall efficacy. The optical system blends reflective and refractive components to create a soft, uniform appearance while minimizing glare, pixelation, and color fringing. The upward-facing LED strip, paired with a diffusing lens and high-reflectance lower reflector, enhances brightness balance and expands perceived room volume by improving vertical surface illumination.
With SmartCast® Technology, the CR Series offers one of the most intuitive and cost-effective intelligent lighting solutions available, capable of reducing energy use by up to 70%. Luminaires come with onboard sensors and wireless mesh communication for occupancy sensing, daylight harvesting, and energy metering, with setup and calibration handled automatically through the OneButton™ Setup process using the Cree Lighting Configuration Tool. Integral motion sensors use passive infrared detection with customizable occupancy and vacancy modes depending on wall control pairing, while ambient light sensors mirror the human eye's response for accurate daylight harvesting.
The integrated wireless system supports AES 128-bit encrypted 2.4GHz mesh networking with a range of 30 feet in standard commercial environments and up to 300 feet in open air. Each network can support up to 250 devices, with 100 devices max per group. SmartCast luminaires require constant unswitched AC power and are compatible with SmartCast wall control dimmers for manual operation. Each luminaire also includes energy metering with 4% accuracy and maintains memory of power settings for up to 10 years.
The CR Series supports a wide range of input voltages (120-277V or 347V) with consistent power draw throughout the life of the fixture. The power factor exceeds 90% at full load, with total harmonic distortion under 20%. Operating temperatures range from 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F), and 0–10V dimming systems provide continuous dimming down to 1% or step dimming to 50%, compatible with both Class 1 and Class 2 control protocols. SmartCast and Lutron Athena versions include tunable white capabilities for dynamic lighting environments.
All versions of the CR Series meet a range of regulatory and voluntary qualifications including cULus listing for damp and plenum-rated installations, RoHS compliance, DLC Premium qualification (except for certain step-dimming or specific voltage/lumen configurations), UL924 for emergency backup options, FCC Part 15 Class A compliance, NEMA C82.77 standards, and Title 20/CCEA approvals where applicable.
