The fixture is housed in galvanized steel and includes a recessed mounting frame with a 1.5" deep aperture throat, accommodating ceiling thicknesses up to 1.5 inches. Installation is straightforward, thanks to universal mounting brackets that work with ½" EMT conduit, C-channel bars, or flat bar hangers, with 5 inches of vertical adjustment from above the ceiling. The integrated junction box features dual knockouts for conduit entry, while wire form hangers and quick-connects simplify field wiring. Built for resilience, the CPY500® light engine is constructed from cast aluminum with an integral heat sink optimized for LED performance. The trim is fabricated from 16-gauge steel and finished with Cree Lighting’s exclusive Colorfast DeltaGuard® system—an E-coat epoxy primer topped with an ultra-durable powder coating that resists corrosion, UV degradation, and abrasion. All units include QR code labels on the housing and in duplicate sizes (1” and 2”) for fast access to installation guides, part numbers, build dates, warranty info, and claim submission forms. Assembled in the USA with domestic and imported parts, the CPY500® also supports Buy American Act (BAA) and Build America, Buy America (BABA) compliance on select configurations.
Electrically, the CPY500® supports input voltages of 120-277V for IC-rated models, and 120V, 277V, or 347-480V for non-IC models. Power factor exceeds 0.9 and total harmonic distortion remains below 20% at full load. The fixture includes standard 6kV/3kA surge protection, with optional upgrades to 10kV/5kA available. For code compliance, use of a slow blow fuse or type C/D breaker is recommended to manage inrush current. Control features include standard 0-10V dimming to 10%, field-adjustable output, Bluetooth programmable multi-level dimming, and compatibility with Zhaga® sockets. The system’s low 10V source current ensures efficient integration with LED-compatible lighting controls.
Certified to rigorous safety and performance standards, the CPY500® is cETLus listed and conforms to UL1598, CSA C22.2#250.0, and UL8750 requirements. It is suitable for damp locations and requires supply conductors rated at 90°C. The IP66-rated light engine ensures protection against water and dust ingress. IC-rated models can be installed in direct contact with insulation, while non-IC versions are thermally protected for safe operation in enclosed spaces. Optional emergency battery backup (EB) is UL924 certified and allows mounting up to 31.4 feet. The fixture is FCC compliant, RoHS certified, and salt fog tested for 5,000 hours according to ASTM B117 standards.
