The NOOS series is a new generation of pole-top LED street and area lighting systems from AEC Illuminazione, created to redefine urban environments through a balanced combination of efficiency, aesthetics, and sustainability. Developed in collaboration with designers Massimo Sacconi and Marzia Bandini, NOOS embodies the evolution of contemporary urban lighting—where architectural design and technological performance coexist harmoniously. Its minimalist profile and refined silhouette enhance the visual identity of public spaces, transforming lighting into a key element of modern city design.

NOOS represents more than a lighting product—it is a forward-looking concept that enhances urban life by integrating advanced optical, control, and environmental technologies. The system supports dynamic white technology, allowing precise adjustment of color temperature from warm to cool tones in response to natural environmental changes. This functionality not only contributes to the comfort and well-being of citizens but also helps protect nocturnal biodiversity and reduce light pollution, aligning with sustainable lighting principles embraced by cities worldwide.

Available in two sizes, NOOS 1 and NOOS 2, the series adapts to a wide range of urban settings—from large boulevards and city centers to residential streets, cycle paths, and parks. This versatility ensures that each project can benefit from optimal lighting performance without compromising the architectural integrity of its surroundings. The fixture’s carefully balanced proportions and distinctive structure allow it to integrate seamlessly into any type of urban furniture, adding elegance and value to public areas while creating comfortable and welcoming atmospheres.

Both NOOS models are equipped with AEC’s advanced Pentha optical system, which ensures homogeneous, glare-free light distribution and precision control of photometric performance. Multiple asymmetric optical configurations—such as STE-M/S, STU-M/S, STW, SV, S05/S07, and STA—allow precise adaptation to specific environments including urban streets, suburban roads, green areas, and cycle paths. The optics are engineered from high-grade 99.85% aluminum with a 99.95% reflective vacuum-sealed surface finish, guaranteeing exceptional light efficiency and durability.

The NOOS 1 version weighs up to 6 kg, with a compact exposed surface area of 0.056 m² on the side and 0.104 m² on top, while the NOOS 2 version extends slightly larger at 7.5 kg, with surface areas of 0.061 m² and 0.143 m² respectively. Both models maintain a 0° tilt angle and can operate reliably in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +55°C. The fixtures support multiple mounting configurations, including post-top (Ø76–127 mm), bracket, wall, and extended post-top bracket options (L.500 mm or L.1000 mm), making installation adaptable to diverse architectural and infrastructural conditions.

From a performance standpoint, NOOS integrates high-efficiency LED modules with a luminous efficacy of 185 lm/W (at 140 mA, Tj=85°C, 4000K), ensuring exceptional visual quality while minimizing energy consumption. The color temperature options include 4000K, 3000K, 2700K, and 2200K, with additional variations available upon request. Both models achieve 100% LOR and DLOR with 0% ULOR, ensuring full light utilization without upward dispersion, and are rated in the Exempt Group for photobiological safety.

In terms of protection and durability, NOOS offers IP66/IP67 ingress protection and impact resistance up to IK09 (IK08 for Zhaga versions), ensuring reliable operation in harsh outdoor environments. The body and fixing components are constructed from die-cast aluminum UNI EN1706, finished with high-resistance powder coating for long-lasting protection against corrosion. Additional structural elements include stainless steel captive screws, a 5 mm high-transparency tempered glass screen, and polyurethane gaskets without joints to ensure watertight sealing.

Electrical and control configurations are equally comprehensive. NOOS operates on 220–240V AC, 50/60Hz supply with a power factor greater than 0.95 at full load, ensuring high system stability. Surge protection up to 12kV is available, with optional SPD modules featuring LED indicators and thermal fuses for safe disconnection at end of life. Connection options include standard H07RN-F cables or optional IP66/IP68 male/female connectors for quick installation.

NOOS supports a wide range of control systems, giving cities full flexibility in managing their lighting infrastructure. Control options include Fixed Power (F) for standard operation, DA (Automatic Dimming) with virtual midnight profiles, DAC (Custom Dimming Profiles), FLC (Constant Light Flux), and DALI digital dimming interface for precise control. Smart connectivity is further supported through NEMA 7-pin (ANSI C136.41) and Zhaga 4-pin (Book 18) sockets, enabling integration into intelligent lighting networks and IoT-based management platforms.

Through its refined design, sustainable technology, and advanced control compatibility, the NOOS series marks a new benchmark for urban lighting. It elevates the quality of public spaces by combining performance and visual harmony, ensuring that every city area—from busy avenues to quiet residential zones—benefits from comfort, safety, and aesthetic cohesion.
