The Dragon architectural LED street light embodies a refined vision of contemporary urban lighting—an artful synthesis of aesthetics and advanced technology that elevates public environments. Developed as part of a new generation of street furniture, Dragon brings minimalist elegance together with exceptional performance, creating luminous urban spaces that are both visually engaging and functionally sophisticated. Its linear and timeless form integrates seamlessly into diverse architectural settings, complementing both modern and traditional contexts with understated distinction.

Born from the collaboration between AEC Illuminazione and renowned designer Davide Oppizzi, founder of DCube Design, Dragon reflects a shared pursuit of excellence in design, innovation, and environmental responsibility. This partnership has produced a luminaire that not only enhances public spaces through refined craftsmanship but also redefines the role of light as an essential element of urban identity. Dragon combines precision optics, responsible material choices, and sustainable engineering to deliver a solution that resonates with the evolving needs of modern cities—balancing functionality, visual comfort, and ecological awareness.

Each Dragon fixture is meticulously designed using sustainable materials to minimize its environmental footprint while complying with the most demanding urban sustainability standards. The luminaire is available in two lengths—1500mm and 1800mm—providing flexibility for various installation requirements. It can be mounted on poles ranging from 5 to 8 meters high, ensuring compatibility with diverse street and landscape configurations. For environments emphasizing renewable energy, Dragon is also available in a solar-powered version, equipped with integrated photovoltaic panels that significantly reduce dependence on electrical grids and further lower environmental impact.

The Dragon range includes a comprehensive selection of asymmetrical optical systems tailored for specific urban and suburban applications, ensuring optimal distribution, efficiency, and visual comfort. Options include SL05 and SL07 optics for street and green area lighting, SLE models for suburban roadways, and SLU variants suited for cycle paths and pedestrian routes. Versions with “-C” optics incorporate black anti-glare secondary reflectors to enhance visual comfort in sensitive environments. Light quality is supported by multiple color temperature options—4000K, 3000K, 2700K, and 2200K—with a CRI of 70 or higher, and a source efficiency of up to 174 lm/W at 400mA and 85°C. The luminaire achieves full light output ratio (LOR = 100%) with no upward light emission (ULOR = 0%), meeting the highest standards for dark-sky compliance.

Engineered for durability and long-term reliability, Dragon offers IP66 protection for both the LED module and gear compartment, ensuring resilience against dust, water, and harsh weather conditions. The removable and replaceable LED modules and gear tray simplify maintenance while supporting circular design principles. The luminaire operates within an extended temperature range from –40°C to +50°C, with rated voltage at 220–240V (50/60Hz) and a power factor above 0.9 at full load. Robust surge protection options include configurations up to 12kV/10kA with LED status indication and a thermal fuse for automatic disconnection at the end of service life.

Control flexibility is integral to the Dragon system, with options that accommodate both simple and intelligent lighting management. Users can select from fixed output (F), automatic dimming (DA) with virtual midnight profiles, custom dimming (DAC), constant luminous flux (FLC), DALI digital interface, and ZHAGA 4-pin socket compatibility for future-ready connectivity and smart city integration.

Constructed with meticulous attention to material quality, Dragon’s structure combines a powder-coated extruded aluminum body with an internal aluminum heatsink for efficient thermal management. The fixing components are made of S235JR steel, ensuring mechanical stability and corrosion resistance. Optical precision is achieved through a PMMA optical module paired with a metallized polycarbonate secondary reflector for high-efficiency light distribution, while anti-glare versions utilize a black PC reflector to reduce luminance and improve visual comfort. A 5mm flat tempered glass screen provides high transparency and durability, maintaining optical integrity and protecting internal components.

The result is a luminaire that transcends the traditional concept of street lighting—an architectural element that harmonizes form, function, and environmental consciousness.
