Its architectural balance and attention to material quality reflect extensive research into form and proportion, resulting in a luminaire that blends effortlessly into contemporary streetscapes and public spaces. Though designed for urban settings, its versatile form and optical precision make it equally effective for traditional street-type installations, allowing cities to maintain both design continuity and functional efficiency across diverse environments.

This post-top LED fixture supports the creation of connected, intelligent lighting infrastructures through full compatibility with AEC Smart Nodes. Integrated into the AEC Smart System, the luminaire enables advanced management of public lighting, offering control functions that reduce operating costs while optimizing performance. This system allows municipalities to transform standard lighting networks into responsive Smart City infrastructures—capable of monitoring, dimming, and adjusting output in real time to suit environmental and human activity needs. The ITALO 2 URBAN TP thus becomes a core element in future-oriented city projects that combine sustainability, technology, and design integrity.

Optically, the luminaire achieves exceptional adaptability through a wide selection of precision-engineered configurations. Multiple asymmetrical and symmetrical options address a range of outdoor applications: STE-M/S for suburban roadways, STU-M/S for city streets and cycle paths, STW for wide urban or suburban roads and wet asphalt surfaces, SV and SV2 for narrow streets or highway access points, S05 for mixed-use areas combining streets and green spaces, S for balanced distribution in parks and open urban zones, and OP-DX/SX for clearly defined crosswalk visibility. This comprehensive optical suite ensures accurate photometric performance tailored to each environment’s visual and safety demands.

The fixture operates at a standard 4000K color temperature with an optional 3000K warm tone, delivering a CRI of at least 70 for faithful color rendering in urban contexts. With LED source efficiency reaching 168 lm/W at 525mA and a junction temperature of 85°C, the system provides high luminous output with excellent consistency. It achieves LOR and DLOR values of 100% and ULOR of 0%, ensuring all emitted light is directed downward, minimizing glare and light pollution. Certified in the Exempt Group for photobiological safety, the ITALO 2 URBAN TP ensures user protection even under prolonged exposure.

Built for endurance, the luminaire achieves IP66 protection against dust and moisture, an IK09 impact resistance rating, and Class II or I insulation, allowing flexible adaptation to different electrical systems. It maintains stable performance across a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +50°C, supported by a power factor greater than 0.9 and a rated voltage of 220–240V, 50/60Hz with ±10% tolerance. Surge protection up to 10kV is included, while an optional Type 2+3 SPD (10kV–10kA) adds LED signal indication and a thermal fuse that safely disconnects the load at end of life, reinforcing reliability in demanding outdoor conditions.

The luminaire’s design emphasizes serviceability and installation ease. Both the gear tray and LED modules are removable, simplifying maintenance and future upgrades. It mounts securely on Ø60mm post-top poles with a fixed 0° tilt angle, ensuring alignment and uniformity in streetscape layouts. The structure, including the heat sink, lower frame, and upper canopy, is constructed from die-cast aluminum UNI EN 1706, finished in a semi-gloss satin grey powder coating that provides both durability and aesthetic balance. The closure hook is made of extruded aluminum with a stainless-steel spring, ensuring mechanical strength and ease of access.

The optical components use 99.85% pure aluminum reflectors with a 99.95% vacuum-sealed surface finish, corresponding to grade class A+ (DIN EN 16268), maximizing light control and reflection efficiency. A 4mm flat tempered glass screen ensures optical clarity and long-term protection, while a polyurethane gasket and plastic cable gland (M20x1.5, IP68) provide secure environmental sealing. The luminaire’s side exposure area is 0.06 m², with a top surface of 0.25 m², balancing wind resistance and structural stability, and a total weight of approximately 12 kilograms.

The ITALO 2 URBAN TP offers a wide range of control configurations to meet diverse project requirements. These include Fixed Power (F) for standard applications, Automatic Dimming (DA) based on a virtual midnight profile, Custom Dimming (DAC) for tailored nighttime performance, Constant Light Flux (FLC) for maintaining uniform brightness over time, and Wireless Single-Point Communication (WL) for remote operation. For integration with networked lighting systems, DALI digital dimming, NEMA 7-pin sockets (ANSI C136.41), and ZHAGA 4-pin interfaces (Book 18) are available.
