Its unique cylindrical solar panel design captures sunlight from all directions, significantly enhancing power generation and charging efficiency. At the core of the VertHex system is Leadsun’s advanced MPPT controller, which delivers up to 98% charging efficiency, approximately 40% higher than traditional PWM controllers. The controller manages multiple charging modes, including constant voltage charging to prevent battery damage during the charging cycle, and is compatible with both 12V and 24V systems. Integrated wireless communication through LoRa and a built-in PIR motion sensor enables intelligent adaptive control, automatically adjusting the lighting intensity based on human presence to extend battery life and optimize operational efficiency. This controller also supports flexible maintenance with waterproof programming connectors and easy access to charging and system switches.

The VertHex series is compatible with a wide range of luminaires and battery configurations. It can be paired with Leadsun’s Freedom Classic, Freedom Plus, Bell-shaped, or V-shaped street lights, either with independent controllers or built-in controller options, offering versatility for various project requirements. This adaptability ensures seamless integration in new installations or for upgrading existing solar street lights, enabling continued use of existing panels and poles while minimizing installation costs and material waste.

Durability is a hallmark of the VertHex series. The solar panel and structural components are housed in a robust aluminum frame, providing superior corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. The system meets IP66 and IK08 standards, ensuring reliable operation in harsh weather conditions including rain, storms, snow, and high-salinity coastal environments. High-efficiency LEDs, with luminous output up to 180 lm/W at 25°C, are paired with anti-UV polycarbonate lenses that resist aging and impact. A unique cutoff optic design reduces light pollution while providing broad and uniform coverage for streets, pathways, and off-grid applications.

Leadsun’s VertHex solar panels are made from A-grade monocrystalline cells with approximately 23% efficiency, available in models such as VSPV150W22-280 and VSPV240W18-280. Each panel offers both flat and vertical power outputs, with open-circuit voltages ranging from 22.4V to 24.5V and short-circuit currents between 2.74A and 6.04A. Panels are built with low-iron tempered glass, EVA for high light transmittance and corrosion resistance, transparent TPE for impact and fatigue resistance, and high-tension aluminum frames, ensuring longevity and stable performance across temperatures from -40°C to +85°C. Installation parameters include effective projected areas of 4.76 to 6.86 ft², actual projected areas of 3.97 to 5.72 ft², and the ability to withstand wind loads up to 160 mph.

The VertHex system integrates Leadsun’s proprietary LiFePO4 battery technology, offering environmentally safe, lightweight, and stable power storage. Batteries are available in multiple capacities, including 820Wh and 1,229Wh packs, with cycle life exceeding 2,000 full-depth discharges and design lifespans of five years at one cycle per day. Advanced battery management technology ensures overcharge, over-discharge, and overtemperature protection while maintaining high charging efficiency. High-capacity lithium-ion battery packs, such as the VSBY153612-LP, provide 1,536Wh with 12.8V nominal voltage, capable of continuous currents up to 100A and pulse currents up to 200A, and are housed in ABS casings with IP55 protection.

Physical dimensions and weight vary across system components: LED luminaires range from 739×152×103 mm to 984×152×103 mm with net weights between 10 and 15 kg, while solar panels range from 1,316×280×240 mm to 1,898×280×240 mm with net weights of 16.5 to 22 kg. Each system is shipped with appropriately sized cartons and gross weights to facilitate safe transport and handling.
