The Astramax HD-LED® mobile LED surgical light combines ultra-slim, lightweight design with exceptionally high output, enabling smooth, fast, and precise positioning during surgical procedures. Despite its compact form, the lamp head delivers an impressive 150,000 Lux of light at one meter, comparable to much larger surgical lights, making it suitable for a wide range of surgical and clinical applications, including general surgery, minor procedures, and emergency care.
The light features a large illuminated area with a variable field size from 150mm to 320mm, ensuring uniform coverage across the surgical site. Its spread of LEDs across the lamp head provides excellent shadow control, under-lighting obstructions to maintain consistent visibility of tissue and instruments. Fat beam illumination delivers higher light flux across the full width of the illuminated area, reducing visual distractions caused by high contrast and peripheral shadows. The light intensity is fully adjustable, allowing the beam to be tailored precisely to the working area.
Astramax HD-LED® incorporates full spectrum color rendition with an Ra greater than 95 and R9 red color index greater than 95, providing near-perfect visualization across the visible spectrum. Red balance control allows clinicians to adjust the color temperature from 3,100°K to 5,000°K, enhancing differentiation between red tissues and improving perception of subtle color variations. This feature compensates for the natural human limitation in distinguishing shades of red, enabling optimal visualization during surgery and more accurate assessment of tissue conditions.
The lamp head is mounted on a multimovement arm system with five rotations, providing an exceptionally wide envelope of positioning. The spring-balanced arm ensures smooth, effortless handling while maintaining the lamp’s position without drift, supporting fast, precise adjustments during procedures. The head is ultra-slim and lightweight, enhancing maneuverability and minimizing interference with surgical workflows.
Infection control is ensured through a fully enclosed, IP54-rated lamp head that protects against dust and fluid ingress. The smooth surfaces allow for easy cleaning and disinfection, while the handle is sterilisable, with optional disposable handles available for enhanced hygiene. The energy-efficient HD-LED technology consumes less than 50 watts at full power, is mercury-free, contains no CFCs, POPs, VOCs, or halogens, and is RoHS compliant, providing both environmentally friendly operation and minimal lifetime running costs.
Astramax HD-LED® LEDs have a life of over 60,000 hours, equating to more than 20 years of normal use, making the system economical and low-maintenance. The radiant energy is measured at 3.31 W/m²/Klux, ensuring safe exposure levels while maintaining optimal brightness for surgical procedures. The combination of high intensity, adjustable light output, wide angular movement, full spectrum color rendering, and superior shadow control makes Astramax HD-LED® a versatile, reliable, and clinically effective mobile LED surgical light for demanding surgical environments.
Brandon Medical’s HD-LED technology represents a breakthrough over conventional surgical lights and standard definition LED lights, offering significantly improved performance, larger illuminated fields, superior color reproduction, and reduced eye strain for clinicians. The Astramax HD-LED® mobile light supports a broad range of clinical requirements, providing surgeons with a powerful, flexible, and reliable lighting solution for both routine and complex surgical procedures.
