Optical performance is a key strength of the Quasar® eLite. Utilizing patented HD-LED technology, the lights achieve near-perfect color rendition across the full visible spectrum, with a Color Rendering Index (Ra) of 95 and R9 red tissue reproduction of 95. Unique Red Balance Control allows surgeons to fine-tune the red content of the light to match individual vision, accommodating differences in red perception and age-related changes in sight. This ensures optimal visualization of subtle tissue variations, reduces eye strain, and enhances differentiation between similarly colored tissues, making surgical procedures safer and more precise.

Quasar® eLite employs proprietary “Fat Beam” technology to create broad, evenly illuminated fields, enabling large wound sites to be fully lit without requiring frequent repositioning. The generous beam coverage ensures high light intensity across the entire surgical area, avoids distracting high-contrast shadows, and allows adjustments to beam size to suit the specific procedural requirements. In addition, the Comfort Halo feature creates a soft low-level illumination around the surgical field, reducing the contrast between the bright central area and the peripheral theater lighting, which is especially beneficial during endoscopic procedures and for minimizing eye fatigue during long operations.

Hygiene and infection control have been integral to the design of Quasar® eLite. All fasteners and screw heads have been eliminated from the lamp head to prevent contamination, while biomaterials with antimicrobial properties, including Biomaster additives and Ultra Fresh paint, inhibit microbial growth. The smooth surfaces of the lamp head facilitate easy disinfection, and all movement controls use sterilisable handles to maintain a clean operating environment. The lamps are sealed to IP54 standards, protecting internal components from dirt and fluid ingress.

The eLite range also emphasizes ergonomics and maneuverability. Lightweight lamp heads, formed with “virtual handles” at the edges, allow surgeons to position lights smoothly and precisely. Each head incorporates six rotations and a needle roller bearing suspension system, providing extensive movement and positioning flexibility. This is further complemented by a range of mounting options and multimovement arm mechanisms, which ensure seamless integration even in hybrid theaters or low-ceiling operating rooms.

Advanced lighting control is provided both locally and remotely. Surgeons can adjust light intensity, beam focus, and Red Balance from the sterilisable handle, keypad, or a wireless wall-mounted control system. Focusable light fields range from 200 to 420 mm, and color temperature is adjustable from 3,100 to 5,000 Kelvin. Optional integrated HD-SDI cameras can be embedded in the lamp head, producing high-definition video suitable for Symposia® systems, minimally invasive surgery documentation, and surgical teaching applications. The eLite range also supports Brandon Medical’s i2i (isolated-to-integrated) connectivity platform, enabling seamless integration with intelligent theater control panels, building management systems, or cloud-based monitoring, which allows predictive maintenance, performance diagnostics, and remote configuration.

Quasar® eLite lights achieve an impressive output of 160,000 Lux per head, with options ranging from single to multiple heads in combinations such as Qe60, Qe6060, Qe606060, and Qe6030, offering unmatched flexibility in both cardiac and hybrid operating theaters. Despite this high output, each LED consumes less than 50 watts, providing energy-efficient operation while maintaining HD-LED life expectancy of more than 60,000 hours. The lights have been designed with minimal environmental impact in mind, free from mercury, lead, cadmium, CFCs, POPs, VOCs, halogens, and compliant with ROHS standards. Annual CO2 reductions are estimated at 1.25 tonnes, reflecting the lights’ sustainable design without compromising clinical performance.

The Quasar® eLite range is suitable for a wide variety of operating theater applications, from minimally invasive procedures to high-risk cardiac surgeries and complex hybrid interventions. The large illuminated area, excellent shadow control, and high color fidelity support surgical precision across multiple specialties, including orthopedic, plastic, reconstructive, gynecological, urological, pediatric, and neurosurgical procedures. Its slim, lightweight design makes it ideal for smaller operating rooms where space constraints are a concern, while still delivering maximum output and uniform lighting across large surgical fields.

Resilience and reliability are built into every Quasar® eLite surgical light. The Intelligent Battery Emergency Power Unit (iBEPU) ensures continuous operation during mains failure or component issues, in compliance with HD60364-7-710, BS7671-2018, and HTM 06-01 standards, with automated testing, Modbus integration, and easy monitoring via mobile apps. This reduces downtime, minimizes operational risk, and supports uninterrupted surgical workflow.
