The W-BACnet DIN Rail PRO is a wireless solution that replaces traditional BACnet MS/TP cabling with a robust and intelligent wireless mesh network. By eliminating the need for complex installation planning, cabling, and daisy-chaining, it drastically reduces setup time and troubleshooting efforts. Designed for plug-and-play operation, the system requires no programming and enables users to implement energy-efficient wireless control, supporting sustainability goals across building management systems. Acting as a proxy for a connected BACnet MS/TP device, the W-BACnet extends the communication bus wirelessly, effectively transforming wired products into wireless ones. A complete W-BACnet system includes a single Gateway connected to up to 100 Nodes, forming a seamless and scalable network.

Built upon LumenRadio’s patented MiraMesh technology, the W-BACnet ensures ultra-reliable device-to-device connectivity with extended range and concurrent Bluetooth functionality. This technology enables the creation of a fully wireless BACnet MS/TP system that retains standard compliance and maintains low latency, ensuring consistent performance across devices. The solution can be installed next to controllers or submeters inside an electrical cabinet and supports daisy-chaining of up to four devices. Additional hardware advantages include a replaceable antenna, rugged block terminals, baud rate agnosticism with external switches, and suitability for both indoor and outdoor environments.

The W-BACnet network offers instant commissioning with just three simple steps, allowing users to set up the system within minutes. Its self-optimizing mesh architecture automatically identifies the best communication routes between devices, ensuring reliability and efficiency. With a range of up to 700 meters line-of-sight per hop—or approximately 50 to 70 meters indoors—the mesh network can cover an entire building, leveraging its structure as a communication backbone. The system’s Cognitive Coexistence technology further enhances reliability by providing immunity to interference in crowded radio environments, making it suitable for industrial applications. Additionally, W-BACnet supports modular configuration, allowing each connected device to operate at an independent baud rate rather than requiring a uniform setting across the network.

From a technical perspective, the W-BACnet DIN Rail PRO operates on a 24 VAC (±15%) or 12–24 VDC (±15%) power supply with a maximum consumption of 2.5 W and includes an auto-resettable fuse. The device accommodates solid or stranded cables ranging from 0.2 to 1.5 mm² (AWG 24–16) and maintains a protection rating of IP20. Compact and lightweight, it measures 36.5 × 93.0 × 58.7 mm and weighs 87 g. Constructed from flame-retardant ABS UL94-V0 material in white, the unit operates in ambient temperatures between -20°C and +55°C and can be stored between -30°C and +80°C, with humidity tolerance of 10–95% non-condensing. It operates in the 2.45 GHz ISM frequency band (2400–2483 MHz) and supports baud rates of 9,600, 19,200, 38,400, and 76,800 bps. The network architecture supports up to 100 Nodes and allows a maximum of eight hops within the mesh network for extended reach and flexibility.

In practice, users connect the BACnet MS/TP controller via RS485 to the W-BACnet Gateway and link each BACnet MS/TP device through RS485 to individual W-BACnet Nodes. Together, these devices form a self-forming and self-healing wireless mesh that ensures stable and continuous communication throughout the network.
