Expanding upon the success of its previous LED bar innovations, Claypaky developed the Tambora Flash to deliver dramatic visual impact and adaptability. The strobe section features two strips of intensely bright cold white LEDs with a wide 120° beam angle, ensuring an explosive presence that cuts through ambient light—even under the harsh conditions of outdoor daylight shows.
For its blinder and wash capabilities, Tambora Flash incorporates four centrally mounted RGBWW LED reflectors, each delivering 100W of individually controllable output. The warm white components replicate the traditional warmth of classic blinder effects, while the RGB output allows for colored blinder functions that add a modern, theatrical edge. Thanks to Claypaky’s Advanced Layer Management, users can seamlessly blend strobe, wash, and color effects across multiple layers, enabling both subtle and high-energy visual compositions.
Designed for modularity, Tambora Flash can be easily assembled into horizontal or vertical clusters, much like a line array audio system. This system is perfect for adapting to different venue sizes—from compact performance spaces to massive stadiums. Each unit offers a 30° angle adjustment, allowing designers to fine-tune the fixture orientation to suit any environment or visual concept.
Built for professional-grade performance, Tambora Flash is IP66-rated, making it suitable for rugged outdoor use. Its robust magnesium housing supports a fast-lock mounting system with Omega clamps and includes mechanics for easy interconnection between fixtures. An adjustable tilt mechanism further enhances aiming precision from 0° to 20°.
The fixture delivers a luminous output of 8,458 lumens (full color, integrating sphere) and operates with high efficiency. The beam angle from the RGBWW LEDs is 31°, and each of the two white strobe LED strips is divided into 8 zones, providing a total of 16 pixel-mappable strobe areas. Control options include DMX, Art-Net, sACN, and RDM, with connectivity via 5-pin XLR and RJ45 ports. It also features a built-in web server and is fully compatible with Claypaky’s CloudIO for remote diagnostics and firmware updates.
Dynamic effects are abundant, including individual control of the RGBWW LEDs, pre-programmed shape patterns, color mixing, red shift emulation, and variable strobe speeds from 1 Hz to 25 Hz. The 24-bit electronic dimmer offers five dimming curves, delivering precision fades and effects.
Tambora Flash is engineered for reliability and convenience, featuring a long-life self-charging battery, graphical LCD display, and RDM support for remote monitoring and configuration. The unit consumes a maximum of 1150 VA at 230V and is thermally managed with forced axial fan ventilation and a thermally protected power supply. It operates safely between -20°C and 45°C, with a surface temperature maxing at 90°C.
