Claypaky Sharpy Moving Head Light with Laser-Like Beam, Electronic Focus, and High-Resolution Dimmer

The Sharpy is a compact and powerful 189W moving beam light that delivers an unprecedented level of brightness, typically only achievable with much higher wattages. Despite its modest size and weight of just 19 kg, Sharpy produces a perfectly parallel, laser-like beam with a remarkable output of 59,760 lx at 20 meters (5,100 footcandles at 65 feet). The beam is sharply defined, free from halos or discoloration at the edges, offering a level of purity that sets it apart from other moving beam lights in its class.

Equipped with 14 interchangeable colors and 17 gobos, Sharpy allows for a wide range of creative effects. Its ability to change the shape of the beam and produce striking mid-air effects makes it a versatile tool for lighting designers. Whether for live performances, TV events, stage productions, showrooms, or conference rooms, Sharpy’s lightweight design and small footprint allow it to fit seamlessly into various environments. Additionally, a mirror-finish chrome version of Sharpy is available, adding a touch of glamour to sets while keeping the light source discreet.

The Sharpy uses a discharge lamp with a short arc burner in a reflector system, either the OSRAM SIRIUS HRI® 190W+ (standard) or the Philips MSD Platinum 5R (optional), with a color temperature of 8,000 K. The Osram lamp offers an impressive average life of 2,000 hours, and when paired with an Osram light engine, it can last up to 3,000 hours depending on usage and environmental factors. The photometric data of Sharpy showcases its high efficiency optical system, with a luminous flux of 7,950 lm and the ability to project a beam with an output of 59,760 lux at 20 meters.

Sharpy’s control features include two modes with 16 or 20 control channels, supporting various protocols like USITT DMX 512, Art-Net, RDM, and sACN. It also offers advanced movement control with 16-bit pan and tilt resolution, providing smooth and precise positioning. The pan movement range is 540°, and tilt is 250°, with fast speeds of 2.45 seconds for pan and 1.30 seconds for tilt. The fixture also includes automatic repositioning of pan and tilt after accidental movement, ensuring accurate control during performances.

In terms of effects, Sharpy features a motorized focus, a linear frost filter, and a high-resolution dimmer with 16-bit control. The shutter and strobe effect add dynamic visual elements to the beam, making it even more versatile for creative lighting setups. It also has a long-life self-charging buffer battery, which supports functions like on/off lamp control from the lighting desk, an "AUTOTEST" function, and electronic monitoring with status error reporting for reliable operation. Firmware upgrades are possible without power, and remote access through RDM is available for additional control.

Built with a durable aluminum and steel structure, Sharpy features plastic covers and is protected with an IP20 rating. The fixture can be used in any position, and its hanging system includes fast-lock omega clamps for easy installation. The electrical system operates within a voltage range of 100-240V and is equipped with a cooling system that includes forced ventilation with axial fans. Additionally, Sharpy includes safety features such as a bipolar circuit breaker with thermal protection and an automatic power supply shutoff in case of overheating or cooling system failure, ensuring both safety and performance reliability.
