Ayrton Mistral is a versatile 300 W spot luminaire housed in an ultra-compact format similar to the Merak. It incorporates a proprietary 13-lens optical system that delivers an 8:1 zoom ratio with a range of 6.7° to 53°. With a 119 mm frontal lens, the fixture projects an exceptionally uniform, flat beam capable of rendering crisp images across all zoom levels and beam angles. Mistral is available in two tailored versions to meet distinct lighting demands: Mistral S for scenic environments and Mistral TC for applications requiring precise color fidelity. Mistral S uses a new LED module to produce a metallic white light with an impressive output of 18,000 lumens at 7000 K, while Mistral TC employs a monochromatic light source delivering over 90 CRI, high TM30 values, and a color temperature of 6000 K, making it ideal for scenarios that demand accurate color reproduction.
The Mistral’s color system includes CMY color mixing, a variable CTO, and a seven-position color wheel for producing a vast palette of saturated and pastel shades. Its effects capabilities are robust, featuring two gobo wheels—one rotating with seven interchangeable HD glass gobos and one fixed with nine positions. A continuous dynamic effects wheel enhances creative flexibility when layered with gobo projections. Additional onboard features include a 15-blade iris diaphragm for shaping the beam, a five-facet rotating prism for multi-beam effects, and a soft-edge frost filter to diffuse light output. For silent operation, especially useful in theatres and studios, Mistral integrates an advanced liquid phase-change cooling system and offers a dedicated Silent ventilation mode.
Mistral ensures smooth, accurate positioning with high-resolution stepper motors controlled via microprocessors. The moving head supports both 8- and 16-bit resolution and offers 540° pan and 270° tilt, with automatic repositioning. Lighting designers benefit from high-precision gobos housed in both rotating and fixed wheels. Each gobo is crafted from glass, maintaining a 25.5 mm outer diameter and 20 mm image area, with a slim profile of 1.1 mm for optimal optical performance. Additional beam shaping is achieved through a motorized iris with dynamic effects and a selectable frost filter, including an optional heavy frost.
For dimming and strobe, Mistral offers electronic control from 0 to 100% with no color shift, and strobe rates adjustable from 1 to 25 flashes per second. The fixture is equipped for modern lighting control needs, supporting local and remote DMX addressing through an onboard LCD display or RDM-compatible controllers. It includes a detailed information menu with runtime, temperature, and software version data. Hardware features include a graphic LCD display with a flip function, a jog wheel for menu navigation, temperature protection, and integrated CRMX TiMo RDM wireless control from LumenRadio. Connectivity is handled via 5-pin XLR for DMX and powerCON TRUE1 connectors for power.
The fixture runs on a universal power supply with active power factor correction, drawing up to 550 W. A smart cooling system uses variable speed fans that adapt automatically to conditions, with selectable user modes for environments that demand quiet operation. The luminaire’s construction features a durable aluminum and steel housing with a die-cast aluminum base and fire-retardant ABS PC covers. Designed for touring and installation, it includes dual side handles, four heavy-duty feet, and an IP20 rating. Installation is quick with Omega ¼ turn brackets and safety cable points.
Operating across all mounting positions, Mistral supports a temperature range from -10°C to 45°C and requires a minimum operating distance of 1.5 meters. It complies with all professional standards for safety and performance, making it a reliable and high-performance fixture for stage, studio, and architectural applications.
