Ayrton has introduced Kyalami, the first phosphor laser source luminaire in its Creative Solution series, inspired by the iconic MagicDot concept. This groundbreaking fixture stands out with its unique design, extreme miniaturization, and minimalist cylindrical footprint, enabling multiple units to be installed just centimeters apart. Encased in a compact 265 mm sphere, Kyalami houses a 100 W laser module, integrated cooling system, and high-performance optics. Its next-generation speckle-free laser source is engineered for D65 white point rendering, ensuring accurate and vivid color reproduction. Kyalami redefines beam quality with unprecedented native contrast, a piercing 1° beam angle, and an extended focus range that allows precise beam shaping based on distance.
The visual identity of Kyalami is highlighted by a 126 mm front lens seamlessly integrated with the spherical body. A proprietary three-lens optical system generates an intense 1° beam that delivers an exceptional luminous flux of 400,000 lux at 10 meters. This fixture features a high-definition progressive CMY color mixing system, along with a multi-position color wheel offering five corrective filters and 17 additional color options. Its graphical capabilities are unmatched, boasting 29 fixed metal gobos for sculpting beam effects, which can be combined with two individually rotating prisms—one circular and one linear—to create complex volumetric visuals. Light and heavy frost filters complete the graphic arsenal, offering even more creative flexibility.
Kyalami is designed for total freedom of movement, with infinite pan and tilt rotation made possible through simplified waterproofing and advanced engineering. This mobility, along with its compact form factor, allows the luminaire to produce intricate lighting effects in even the most constrained spaces. It's an ideal solution for architectural applications and high-impact visual design. The light source operates at a color temperature of 9000K, offers a CRI greater than 70, and maintains a rated lifespan of up to 12,000 hours. Its anti-reflective coated lenses and motorized linear focus enhance its optical precision.
Movement is controlled with high-resolution stepper motors, available in either 8- or 16-bit resolution, ensuring smooth, pinpoint accuracy in positioning. The pan and tilt system includes automatic repositioning and supports continuous rotation. The fixture's sophisticated color engine enables seamless RGBW color mixing, uniform beams without shadowing, and high color fidelity. Kyalami's fixed gobo wheel provides instant access to 29 metal patterns with a 3 mm image diameter, while dual frost filters allow for softening the beam when needed.
An electronic dimmer ensures smooth transitions from 0 to 100% brightness without color shift, and strobe effects range from 1 to 25 flashes per second. Kyalami also includes an intuitive LCD control panel for local DMX addressing, while RDM functionality allows for remote configuration. The onboard software includes an information menu with metrics like temperature, runtime, and software version.
On the hardware side, the unit features a graphic LCD with flip functionality, five menu buttons, and excess temperature protection. It comes equipped with an integrated CRMX TiMo RDM wireless receiver from LumenRadio™, IP65-rated XLR 5-pin connectors for DMX, RJ45 connectors for ArtNet, and PowerCON TRUE1 Top connectors for power. Control protocols supported include DMX512, RDM, ArtNet, and sACN, and the unit can operate in standalone or Master/Slave modes. The control footprint spans 33 DMX channels.
Kyalami runs on a universal 100–240 V power supply with active power factor correction, consuming a maximum of 200 W. Its advanced cooling system features IP68 self-adjusting liquid-cooled fans and includes selectable ventilation modes such as Super Silent Mode, making it ideal for sensitive environments. Built with a robust structure of aluminum, steel, and fire-retardant ABS PC, the luminaire offers IP65 protection and is finished in a sleek black Carbon exterior. Convenient transport features include side handles and heavy-duty feet for stable placement.
Installation is straightforward with Omega ¼ turn brackets and four locking fittings, plus a secure safety cable attachment point. Kyalami operates in any position, with a temperature tolerance between -20 °C and 45 °C, and requires a minimum usage distance of 15 meters. It meets EU and US safety and EMC standards, including EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, LVD Directive 2014/35/EU, UL 1573, and FCC Part 15: 2020-f. The unit’s compact dimensions are 265 x 430 x 265 mm, and optional flight cases are available for secure transport and storage.
