Karif is a versatile fixture in Ayrton’s “LT” (Long Throw) series, specifically developed for long-distance applications. Compact yet powerful, this 300 W beam-spot luminaire is equipped with a 168 mm front lens and offers an extraordinary 17:1 zoom ratio with a range from 2.8° to 47°. At the heart of Karif is a newly developed, miniaturized high-efficiency low-etendue compact LED module. Calibrated at 8000 K, the light engine delivers a strikingly bright metallic white light and deep, saturated colors, achieving an overall output of 14,000 lumens at a color temperature of 7000 K. As Ayrton’s first hybrid LED luminaire, Karif also features continuous rotation on its panoramic movement, expanding its capabilities for dynamic and intricate special effects.
This luminaire is fully equipped for high-level performance, including a CMY color mixing system, a fixed color wheel with variable CTO, four color temperature correction filters, and nine complementary filters arranged on two concentric circles. The gobos are equally advanced: Karif includes a rotating wheel with nine interchangeable HD glass gobos and an innovative fixed gobo wheel that gives instant access to 19 HD glass gobos and 20 metal gobos on three concentric rings. A bi-directional dynamic effects wheel and a prism system with four individually combinable rotating prisms enable a vast range of visual creativity, including unique kaleidoscopic patterns when combined with the fixture’s intense output and extensive gobo library.
The optical system features 13 high-resolution elements and a 168 mm front lens with fast motorized linear zoom, while anti-reflective coated lenses maximize performance. Its LED light source provides up to 20,000 lumens with a consistent 7000 K color temperature and a CRI greater than 70, offering long life and flicker-free operation for television and recorded video applications. Precision in motion is ensured through high-resolution stepper motors and microprocessor control, offering infinite pan rotation and a 263° tilt range with smooth, accurate positioning.
Karif’s color capabilities include a rich CMY mix, a fixed color wheel with progressive CTO and additional temperature corrections, and a wide array of complementary hues. Gobo control includes rotating and fixed options, each supporting HD imaging with diameters tailored for maximum clarity and diversity. Frost options allow for both heavy and light diffusion, while the effects section includes a continuously rotating animation wheel and an advanced prism system for layered, immersive visual displays.
For dimming and strobe, Karif features an electronic dimmer for smooth adjustments from 0 to 100% without color shift, and strobe speeds adjustable from 1 to 25 flashes per second. Software functions include local and remote DMX addressing, an informative menu with hour counter, temperature monitoring, and software version display. A graphic LCD panel and intuitive jog wheel provide hands-on configuration, while internal safeguards protect against overheating. Integrated wireless control is enabled via a CRMX TiMo RDM receiver from LumenRadio.
Control options include wired and wireless DMX 512 compatibility, support for RDM, ArtNet, and sACN protocols, and multiple DMX channel mode selections ranging from 32 to 46 channels. Karif operates with a 550 W max power draw and features an advanced liquid cooling system with selectable fan modes, including a quiet Silent Mode for noise-sensitive environments.
The fixture’s construction includes a moving-head skeleton made of aluminum and steel, die-cast aluminum base, aluminum and copper heat sinks, and fire-retardant ABS PC covers. It features dual handles for transport and heavy-duty feet for stable positioning. Rated at IP20, it is designed for indoor use and finished in sleek black carbon. Installation is flexible with Omega ¼ turn brackets and multiple mounting points, plus a safety cable attachment.
Karif can be operated in any position and performs in ambient temperatures from -10°C to 45°C. The minimum usage distance is 2 meters. It meets European and US compliance standards including EMC and LVD directives, UL 1573, and FCC regulations. Measuring 365 x 622 x 212 mm and weighing 27 kg, Karif is shipped with a 1.5 m power cable, two Omega brackets, and molded foam for flight cases.
