The latest wash-type luminaire in Ayrton’s Huracán family showcases a groundbreaking optical innovation—a newly designed Fresnel lens with a structure optimized for seamless use with framing barndoors. This fresh approach not only enhances compatibility with geometric gobos and ovalisation lenses but also removes operational constraints often faced with conventional designs. A subtle, progressive diffusion system enables users to adjust diffusion levels based on application needs and the optical accessories in use. The Fresnel lens significantly improves color mixing and yields 10% more light output than standard Fresnel lenses using Ayrton’s proprietary F.O.S.™ system. The high-performance optical system in Huracán Wash delivers a 12:1 zoom ratio, ranging from 6.2° at half peak to 75° at one-tenth peak. The luminaire adopts the advanced CMY color mixing system found in the Huracán Profile, delivering a double level of CMY saturation for a staggering 281 trillion color combinations. It also features a triple color temperature corrector, allowing fine tuning from 2700 K to 15,000 K while improving CRI via the T.C.S.™ system (patent pending).
The Huracán Wash introduces a new 1000 W monochromatic LED engine tailored for studio and theatre applications. Known as the ST version, it outputs 45,000 lumens with a D65 white point, achieving a CRI greater than 80 for accurate color rendering. For environments that demand a cooler, more metallic white, the S version delivers up to 52,000 lumens at 7000 K with a CRI of 70. Meanwhile, the TC version is ideal for applications prioritizing color fidelity, boasting a CRI greater than 95 and a color temperature of 6000 K, along with exceptional TM30 metrics. Designed with professional users in mind, Huracán Wash includes a comprehensive feature set, such as a framing system that accurately positions four barndoors over the entire beam field, regardless of fixture orientation. Additional features include a wheel with seven rotating gobos, a 15-blade iris diaphragm, and a beam ovaliser filter, making the Huracán Wash an elite-level luminaire for high-end stage, studio, and architectural lighting.
The Huracán Wash features a 13-element high-resolution zoom system with a beam aperture from 6.2° to 75°, supported by fast motorised linear zoom and tempered anti-reflective coated lenses. The large 210 mm Fresnel front lens ensures superior optical performance. Light source variants deliver different output and CRI levels, with all versions rated for up to 40,000 hours (L70) and flicker-free operation, making them suitable for TV and video productions.
Movement precision is ensured via high-resolution stepper motors and microprocessor control, offering smooth 8- or 16-bit pan and tilt operation, along with automatic repositioning. The color system is sophisticated, with a dual-saturation CMY engine, variable CTB, CTO, and CTP correction filters, and a fixed colour wheel offering six additional hues. The gobo system includes a rotating, indexable wheel with seven high-precision glass gobos and bidirectional rotation at adjustable speeds.
Ayrton’s advanced framing system enables full control of four independently positionable shutter blades across the entire beam, with barndoor module rotation of ±60°. The iris diaphragm allows dynamic effects with a 15–100% opening range. The frost system is fully variable from 0–100%, and effects are bolstered by a CMY/RGB graphic animation wheel with bidirectional rotation and a beam ovalising filter that is both indexable and rotatable.
The dimmer allows smooth 0–100% control without color shifts, and the strobe function offers variable speeds from 1 to 25 flashes per second. On the software side, users can access DMX addressing, optional parameters, and system data through both local and remote (RDM) interfaces. The unit includes a detailed information menu covering runtime, temperature, and firmware version.
Hardware features include a graphic LCD display with flip functionality, a jog wheel for settings navigation, excess-temperature protection, and integrated LumenRadio CRMX TiMo™ wireless DMX. The fixture is equipped with standard XLR 5-pin DMX and etherCON RJ45 connectors for ArtNet™ and sACN protocols. Power is delivered via PowerCON TRUE1 connectors.
The fixture supports DMX512 via cable or wireless, is fully DMX-RDM compatible, and offers both stand-alone and Master/Slave modes. It allows selection among three DMX channel modes (39 to 61 channels). The power supply is an electronic unit with active power factor correction, compatible with 100–240 V AC at 50/60 Hz, and draws a maximum of 1,470 W.
Huracán Wash’s advanced liquid cooling system incorporates self-adjusting variable speed fans and includes a Super Silent mode for noise-sensitive environments. It’s protected against overheating and housed in a durable structure composed of aluminum, steel, and fire-retardant ABS PC. With dual side handles and four heavy-duty feet, it’s easy to transport and stable during operation. Rated IP20, the unit features a black carbon finish.
Installation is straightforward thanks to the dual Omega ¼-turn bracket system, with eight mounting points for flexible rigging and a dedicated safety cable attachment point. The fixture operates in any orientation, tolerating ambient temperatures from -10 °C to 45 °C, with a minimum safety distance of 3 meters.
